I searched online and checked the owner's manual but can't confirm or deny...

I have 3 keys for my truck. The 2 smart key fobs and the regular mechanical key which can lock/unlock the driver's door and tailgate.

If i try to start the truck with just the mechanical key, i get the "no key detected" error then the notification to hold the key up to the starter button, which i tried to no success.

Just wanted to verify either i'm not doing it correctly or what i'm trying to do will never work
