2024 tundra sr5

I just purchased a brand new 2024 tundra SR5 and my daughter was approaching with a heavy load, and I reached for my key fob to press the button for the tailgate to go down, but it wouldn’t go down. It seems that I cannot activate the tailgate while I’m inside the truck is there not a remedy a button of some kind so that I can open the tailgate while I’m inside my truck
