My 2016 SR5 has bucket seats and just the 26 gallon tank. Bought it used so I don't know the particulars around its configuration, other than the previous owner was a retiree that never touched a thing on it other than tires. Was still running on original brake pads and rotors when I changed them at 183K.

Curious. Do you have the column shifter? I know the earlier 2nd gens, and even the early 2.5 gen trucks don't have the 38 gal tank. But I think it started in 2015?

The packages must have been different in 2016.

4.6L didn't get the big tank, i believe.

    First, congrats on the truck!

As for tires/sizes, there is no easy one size fits all answer. Too many variables. Are you changing the wheels? If so, what offset? That has a huge impact on what does and doesn't rub and where. On top of that, not all tires with a given size on the sidewall are actually the same size. Prime example, I got the same 275/70R18 size as another member with identical suspension (stock) but I had rubbing and he didn't. Turns out, the brand I bought runs a little larger than the brand he got. Then there's the fact that all the trucks are a little quirky. They aren't precision done, so they don't all have the exact same tolerance in an alignment and tire scenario.

All that to say, there is no carved in stone "this will fit and will not rub" because of the variables. It's all at a risk of some rubbing. Anyone saying anything but stock size fits fine may not be 100% accurate, so don't be surprised if your truck is a little different.

I loved the Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws that I had on my Tundra and they did everything well except mud, but no AT tire does well in deep/thick mud. I ran them on ice, wet, snow, dry, and muddy roads and they were great. Just remember that heavier tires reduce your payload, and will hit your MPGs.

For sizing you can refer to this, but keep in mind the tidbits mentioned earlier. https://www.tundras.com/threads/largest-tire-you-can-run-stock-for-all-generations.9762/

If you don't know what offset/backspacing is, read up on it and what changing it does to the suspension components and alignment, etc. https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...an-when-considering-aftermarket-wheels.88937/

Pretty sure the 38 gallon tank was introduced in the 2016 MY, and no column shifter got it. Had to have the convenience or upgrade package, IIRC, to get it and they came with the center console.

I have the console shifter and the 4.6L. Sure wish it had the large tank, though. I got this for $19,700 in June of 2023, with 179K on it, so there was little that would have deterred me from buying, in terms of features.

Stock 255/70-18 show 38 lbs on tire rack, and my 275/70-18 KO2 show 57lbs. I’m going to try General Grabber APT for next set. It got 275/70-18 on SL and only weight only 44lbs, I might get 2 mpg back…lol
It don’t matter if your gas is $2 but cali gas is too high for 10 ply…lol

H'mm, clicked into this post because I was looking at spending some money, but not on a tank. What was it? I think it was X-Remote, but now I don't see it anywhere in here.

I don't know if this helps, but I put -25 offset wheels on my 2016 SR5 CM and kept the stock tire size of 275/65R18, and ended up with an occasional rub of the front, forward mud flap, under certain circumstances. My solution is to replace the stock shocks with the Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Leveling Shock Kit, BIL0719TUNFRKIT. Still waiting to get the fronts put on...

Still have the stock aluminum wheels to sell, if anyone's interested.

    Looks like this:

Most people just take them flaps out, it don’t help anything

Right. Well, I wanted to level it, as well. Or at least I do now that I'm faced with thinking I'm an idiot!

I’ve had good luck with my KO2’s so far. Rotating them every 5,000km. Great in the snow, decent in rain and good on the highway.

We all know you use them mud flaps to do a lift, I do that as well to get approval from wife…lol. I installed the coil over and take them flaps out at the same time…
