Back in around 72 or 73, we were told that the USA would be going to the metric system for everything very soon. How did that work out for us?

Pluto IS a planet. Consensus is NOT science.

I was taught that there were 103 elements. Today there are 118.

Isn't Pluto a dwarf planet? I thought I heard there are a bunch of other bodies very similar in size to Pluto out at that end of the solar system and that the system would have to be dozens of planets of we included everything that's the size of Pluto or bigger.

That was the first one that came to my mind.
And though you make a valid point, it's not so much that there were already people here, it's that he never stepped foot anywhere near the mainland.
He landed somewhere in the Caribbean islands.
Anyway, school is not where you're going to get an actual education.

We never heard the name Curtis Lemay in history class. It wasn't until in my 20's did I learn about the firebombing of Japanese cities. What would I expect? The Japanese were still called Japs and of course the current enemy, Reds.

One that stands out to me is making us learn to write in cursive. I've never once been forced to write in cursive as an adult and I don't even remember how anymore.

Anything surrounding English literature, or art history (required class for a construction major) or algebra, or geometry, or trig, or cursive, or music, or chemistry, or physics, or really just about anything beyond basic reading//writing//math skills. I get wanting to expose kids to things to see where they go but come on. Quit wasting our time.

The one thing I did learn that I still remember is how to balance a checkbook. We spent a week in the 4th grade doing it.

Getting a degree will get you more money. (I didn't fall for it) Complete BS. Being formidable in your field will get you more money. A degree means nothing, and employers are starting to realize it.

Science is about provable results and above politics. That sure went out the window.

    Only blacks were slaves.

The Pyramids had pharaohs in them.

    The government wants to help.

Trade schools won't pay as much as going to college will.

You have to go to college to start a business or build your wealth.

You don't need to worry about your 401K when you are young.

Social Security was meant for retirement.

The ice age/overpopulation/ice caps melting/greenhouse gasses will kill us all by 19XX. Pick your poison of "the end is nigh" over the last hundred years and they've all been wrong.

We take care of our Veterans.

    Vietnam was unwinnable.

We'll all have flying cars by the year 2000.
