I got some after market running boards (knockoffs of the OEM stainless tube style that are all black). I saw a review that said you could see the hardware (bolt heads I assume) as they are zinc. Remembering my OEM boards on my '17, I find that hard to believe.
    1) Should I be looking to get some black oxide bolts or will the zinc not be seen?
    2) Are black oxide as good as zinc for corrosion resistance?
    3) When installing, should I use locktite, anti-seeze, both?? From what I read locktite over anti-seeze except if using stainless (but opinions were mixed)??

    1. I find it hard to believe that you can see the hardware. I wouldn’t worry about it.
    2. If you can see the hardware, you can just hit it with some black fluid film or black rust prevention spray paint.

finished install. the brackets themselves seem more noticeable than the similar OEM steps on my '17. Also the nickel "clip nuts" used under the rails to bolt on brackets are visible. Like someone said, could be blacked out "easily". Pretty happy overall.
