Thank you to TTCM for the dimensions! It truly helped. Used the same numbers and feel the dog platform came out great! I added an anti-fatigue mat layer below the marine black all weather carpet. Best part, the doggo approves.

I have about 400k miles combined in a Gen 1 Tundra, Gen 2.5 Tundra and a Titan with 1-3 Labs using this tarp set up in my back seat. No issues with the headrest posts. I had a 75# Lab that loved "the sling" and my 65# current youngest likes to sit in "the sling" portion, not on the seat.

I'm pretty sure it is 5 x 7. There is a piece of PVC conduit that runs side to side at the front seats. I found that spreading the load works better and also in a panic stop the bar keeps the pups in the back seat. I use grommets to secure the "loop" the PVC runs through and then cut small holes for the headrest lines to run through. I add grommets where the back seat attachments are and use wire ties. I add grommets on the bottom back corner and tie this part down to keep the tarp from sliding around. I use this type of tarp. The coated tarps can make a mess of your truck as the coating rubs off. I'm pretty sure the tarp I have now has 155K on it since 2016.

so the “loop” is permanent due to being “geometries” together?

is that paracord on the front head rests?

what made you decide on this method as opposed to the dog hammocks on Amazon?

The loop of fabric is permanent, using grommets. I used grommets because I don't have a machine that will sew through the tarp.
I used cord and brass hooks on the headrest to make removal easier.
I made my first one of these back in 2004 or so. At the time there were few options available commercially so I decided to make what I wanted. I actually had it sewn by a sail/canvas guy out of Sunbrella fabric. The fabric did not hold up. I went to tarps after that and at some point started using grommets instead of having them sewn. I have a Mud River sling for my wife's 4 Runner. It's OK but I think my version with the PVC conduit is more secure and the dogs are better contained.
I think I got pics from every angle.

Here is my version. Two parts to allow use of seat and deck. Folding feet. Center support using cargo dividers. Rubber floor tiles on surface. upload_2024-2-6_7-45-10.jpgupload_2024-2-6_7-45-19.jpgupload_2024-2-6_7-45-26.jpgupload_2024-2-6_7-45-35.jpg

Can anyone share the height of the support legs for the outboard and center tunnel? Thank you for posting dimensions of the board itself, super useful!

I thought Ryan answered this in another thread about storage maybe. I believe his answer was that the cover doesn’t have strength to it, it’s just a cover & is supported by the battery & related structure, not self supporting. I think?

Do you have any issue with keeping your Shepherds hair out of the vents for the hybrid battery?

Good question, should probably plan to clean filter once a month or so.

Thank you very much for sharing the measurements TTCM. Perfect fit. If this helps anyone my legs are 7 1/2” tall, and there is a support in middle bump that is 3” tall or (2) 2x4’s. Used 3/4 plywood and it’s super sturdy all around. About $50 bucks (had spare carpet) and an afternoon taking my time.

    just need a slobberguard now

Rear seat delete on my DC makes this the perfect spot for the dog. Just add a blanket, some towels or his dog bed and we are ready to go.

Thanks to all the posters on this thread. Made a platform for my pup a few weeks ago and it works great. It may never come out because it makes the rear seating area so much more usable when you don't have passengers.

Mine (a 12lb JRT) rides in his kennel and the kennel is connected at the rear corners to the child seat metal connects. Tight and secure.
