What does Toyota mean by Leather “trimmed” seats? Is the whole seat not leather? just the trim? is it softex and some leather?

if anyone knows the answer, please share.

I don't know exactly, but I do know the coating/paint has worn off my Leather Trimmed seats in my 1794. Toyota is replacing it , its defiantly not leather like in my Cadillac. Most of the truck I have been very satisfied with but not that.

Usually it means that the main seating inserts are leather but the sides and back are vinyl or some other textile like softex. Often times even the seat bolsters and headrests are vinyl and just the square you sit on and square your back touches is leather.

This is pretty standard in the industry and has been for a while. A basic Katzkins kit is the same - bolsters, headrests, sides and back are not leather, but their premium kit is all leather fronts, bolsters, and head rests with vinyl sides and seat back.

That’s not exciting! Do you know if that is a common occurrence? I’ve been looking at the 1794. I’ve yet to test drive one

only the capstone has anything close to real leather

Semi aniline leather is made much like full aniline counterpart, with one main difference. That difference is that semi-aniline leather is made with semi-aniline dye that contains just a small amount of pigment. This means that the leather will have a more uniform coloring than a full aniline leather. In addition, semi aniline leather still preserves the natural markings present in the leather while adding a thin protective layer which makes it more resistant to stains and wear than full aniline leather.

Some manufacturers like Volvo advertise that their seats are "leather free" to "respect the environment." So, it could be worse...

Does it really matter? You can't tell by looking at, its comfy to sit on, and smells like leather.

I do not know, the dealer said he had not seen it, also that seat does look like it may have been made defective like it wasn't adhered right to the base layer. I don't care if they are real leather or fake just want it to hold up.

While a limited edition, the upcoming saddleback LE 1794 trims look to have some pretty cool “real” leather as well.

not sure about the Capstone but by the looks of it the same construction as the 1794...just that 2 tone black and white and all the other white trim hurts my eyes and looks like a dirt magnet that would not wear well for me...to each their own...the Saddlebred 1794 will be a different story, even has saddle bag style storage on the back of the front seats real leather pretty much everywhere bet it wears like iron...not interested in paying that up-charge either and only comes iforce max powertrain so that's another $4000. Gonna make 1500 of them but not 1794? Marketing opportunity missed but don't think they care a bit ha.

I agree. I’m certain I would not get along with white. Nor would my dogs
