I would highly doubt that as my ‘24 interior lights are damn near useless.

Yikes… then the ‘22&’23 MY lights must be actually worthless. Mine look comparable to my friend’s ‘23… fwiw.

Put heater in radar sensor. It’s useless here in a Canadian winter. Interior lights are fucking terrible. Increase illumination amount by at least threefold! Put a proper steel bumper on the back of the truck. The rear seat in the extra cab is as useless as tits on a boar pig. Increase space to be on par with previous Tundra.
Put eyeglass cases and door storage back into the doors like my other Tundra. Handgrips on A pillars missing, improve spotty steering wheel heater, fire the wind tunnel engineers after beating them unconscious with a hardwood lathe stick, completely redesign the cab window seals and shape of sideview windows to eliminate severe road noise, physically beat the fucking idiot who put gray carpet in the front wheel wells. Change this to plastic before this moisture and salt trap rusts and destroys the fenders, put tow hooks on front and back, take an aluminum bat and beat the fuck out of the cheap prick to decided to sell a $70,000 truck with gray outdoor carpet as a drivetrain belly pan shield. Get rid of the useless rear underseat storage on the extracab. This leaves no floorspace. Increase fan 3x strength for setting that blows air into drivers face. This is how we thaw frozen cab windows on a Canadian winter! You cannot turn the air vent towards the windows without shutting off the vent’s louvers!
Design a more fuel efficient engine. Ridiculous in this age to be only getting 20mpg.

All of this should have been caught by the Toyota design team. A ten year old fucking child would be more thorough at designing a better product. Sad thing is that a lot of these defects were not present in the former generation Tundra!

There isn't an extra cab. I'm guessing you have a double cab.

Buy the upgraded LED interior lights, unless that options not available in The Great Whote North of Hoth.

Blame mpg regs for the foam vs metal buts.

Do you have BSM? Do you like it? Well, that, along with previously mentioned mpg regs, is why you don't have a steel bumper. It's also better for crumple zones, i.e. safety regs, if it's not a chunk of steel.

Rear seat storage was a major ask of previous tundra customers.

Seems manufacturers are damned if they do or don't, regardless.

One thing to keep in mind, they aren't trying to design the best most well thought out truck. They're trying to design the one that will sell the best. I'm sure a few of the things on your list would have others complaining that it was done that way instead of their individual preferences being served.

It's all first world problems, and many are knowable before a purchase if there's research being done rather than assumptions being made.

    Enjoy your truck.

You get 20??? Consider yourself lucky. Conservative around town driving and I’m at 15.5mpg.

I keep it on tank. Switched to ethanol free with the previous tank and got 15.9. Back to 15.4 on this tank with about 75 miles remaining. I read some posts about potential rear brakes not fully disengaging (one poster had to replace them at 10k), but I can touch the rotor after pulling in the garage. Pretty crappy considering the 2018 F150 with a 302 I traded had more HP, more torque, more payload and towing, and got better mileage.

True enough, and the Tundra is quicker as a result. But I try to stay out of it given the crappy fuel economy.

The 2018 302 had more that 479 lb-ft of torque?

To add, they design it to appeal to 90%( pulling a number out of my ass) of the public. The hardcore off-road/adventure/overlanding guys are a minority. That is why aftermarket exists. It's cool they are starting to collaborate with aftermarket suppliers like ARB, Fox, etc, but that is a premium price point product then. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Trailhunter Tacoma be north of $60k.

A plug in Hybrid model. So all the existing options, throw the Capstone in a dumpster ( sorry Capstone owners) and replace it with a plug in Hybrid. People such as myself still need a pick up in our lives, but are passed the jack it up and go drive thru the bush with it. I love my hybrid but would unload it in a second for a plug in. I would not want Full Electric. No matter what our government says, gas engines are not going away in a couple years

Given the poor aerodynamics and weight, I don't think a plug in is going to do a whole lot more without eating into payload and such for the truck. You're not going to get Rav4 Prime plug in performance out of the fatter and brick shaped Tundra, even if you directly put the Rav's plug in system in it. If the Prime gets something like 30 miles on battery alone I think it'd be optimistic as hell to hope for even half that in a truck. I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze, and Toyota knows it.

TRD options, TRD factory lift, front window tint, X4S cover, 35's on factory TRD wheels, wheel spacers
    • Remote start that doesn't turn off when you get in or unlock the doors (an easy way to do it from the keyfob not an app)
    • Tow hooks... Seriously no tow hooks!?
    • A way to disable seatbelt chime or at least a way to lower the volume
    • Ability to turn off the fake v8 noise (Lexus has this even as old as the NX200t)
    • A way to fix speedo if putting larger tires on
    • Factory TRD lift option with remote reservoir shocks
    • Increase the fender flare thickness as you can see the attach points through the plastic (looks like dents)
    • Make a button to unlock the tailgate on the right side not just the left
    • Generator to run off the gas tank like Ford has been doing for year, only 400w in a rear tailgate is a little low for most everything.
    • Increase MPG
    • A way to keep Google maps open while listening to Satellite, should be simple fix
    • Make the toyota app free forever
    • Bring back the larger cup holders in the front.
    • Expand the interior and exterior matches... Maybe I'm along here but I love the 1794 brown leather interior but hate Chrome making you go Platinum but only option is black interior. No more chrome or make it black chrome.
    • Holy moly the hood glare from the channels on the hood driving at like 3pm is absolutely blinding.
    • Give me an option to add back in my fog lights when getting the TRD lift but its shipping to a state where it is permissable based on height. We have a fog light switch but no fog lights.
    • I don't want my truck to switch off, ever despite having a hyrbid for the extra HP. I can turn it off it I put it in tow mode but why isn't there an option to do that in the settings?

Actually, no. My mistake. It had a little over 400. And higher end torque than with the boost.

One more to add to the list.
    - Disable the link between CarPlay and the in-motion GPS so that my wife can scroll through my music without me having to stop first. CarPlay allows for it, but it’s up to the vehicle mfg to use it or not. VW ignores it. I get the reason why most use it…they don’t want people scrolling through all their library while driving and want to force you to use the crappy Siri. But then the idiots will just pick up their phone and do it anyway. You can’t regulate common sense. When we’re on a trip, my wife mans the stereo and she should be able to access all of my library while we’re moving.

Can your wife pick up your phone and scroll that way? I understand what you are saying, but they have to implement safety measures for people driving solo and reducing distractions, not adding them, even though it actually adds more by limiting usage...

Sure she can, and if their implementation did prevent idiots from being distracted, it would be a worthwhile tradeoff. But it doesn’t. Just makes it more inconvenient for others. She’s rather look at a 14” screen that a 6” phone.

Unlock sensors on rear door handles. Often try to get things out of the back and I have to go to the front door first.

If a full sized Range Rover is good for 3 hours on battery, so could a Tundra. Hell give it 2....would still be a benefit

You can set that when you unlock off the Fob it unlocks all 4 doors, not just the drivers door. I changed mine for the same reason

Yup, that's the smart handle feature that he is wanting, not the fob. I've done the same. Come out to the truck with arms full, so no fob, and grab the rear handle only to have it not open. Curse a bit, grab the front handle so it unlocks all the doors, and then open the back.

Actually, I think he means the touch sensors in the door handles. I can see the benefit, but when you start adding those in, and a tailgate release button in both taillights, etc., our $60k truck becomes a $65k truck.

The existence of a Limited Double Cab was what drew me to the Tundra. I had Lariat SuperCab (extended cab in Ford speak) F-150s and loved them but Ford dropped that combination.

This was the interior of my last F-150. Note the flat floor and small storage bin on the non-flat section. That bin allowed me to store jumper cables, ratchet straps, a tow strap, and a hitch. Just enough space without taking up valuable floor space. I was looking for that again - useful back seat area for stuff more than people in a well optioned trim (heated and cooled leather, power fold mirrors, better sound system, etc.). People criticize Ford's suicide doors, but the lack of a B pillar is awesome for loading large items. I knew I'd give that up, but I figured everything else would be similar.

    20200708_123449.jpg

I was wrong. When I looked at the Tundra, the back seat area was useless. Huge driveshaft hump in the middle for starters. Then, the storage bins which are way too big and take up too much of the floor space. I'd never need that amount of storage for the basic stuff I keep in the truck all the time.

They should have done a flat floor and smaller bins.

That and lack of 4 Auto were my two biggest issues with the Tundra.
