I'm not ready to let this truck go to the salvage yard just yet. I'd been chasing down codes on my '05 SR5 with the A750E that has no forward gears. Swapped a solenoid, checked for ground, etc. I think at this point the transmission is just toast and I'm not about to try and rebuild it.

For those that have swapped this transmission out on their own, how difficult was it? Other than being heavy were there any special tools, etc that you needed? I don't have a lift but I've got ramps and can make room under it. I'm not scared to unbolt anything as long as I know that I'm unbolting the right thing. I have the service manuals but would like to know from someone with experience if this is beyond something you'd do in the driveway.

Haven't done it in truck, but did a few times in passenger car, which is way much more involved (subframe has to come off, engine and steering rack suspended, frozen axles taken out, stubborn transfer case unbolted). Was totally doable. Truck is even simpler. I think you need a transmission jack.
