The 2019 I purchased had air bags installed by the PO on the rear axle. They are aired down to 3lbs. There is a STIFF bounce from the rear axle when going over bridges or speed bumps. Really obnoxiously stiff.

Are the airbags the likely cause of this? I did add a TRD sway bar to the rear but the rough bounce was there before this addition. The truck has a leveling kit but no other suspension modifications.

    Thanks in advance.

When I put my airbags in, it gave a stiffer/harsher feeling when going over bumps or hitting dips. I just live with it. When I hook up the camper, it rides great. I heard some people putting weight in the back to soften the ride.

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't tow often. Would removing the bags require replacing the rubber factory bump stops?

It would be a good idea. But, I think I would replace it with with a better aftermarket bump stop. There’s a lot to choose from depending on how much you want to spend.

    I noticed no difference.

I run load range E tires because I tow quite a bit. Those tires are already a rougher ride.

Adding bags changed nothing except getting rid of the squat.

I tried a couple different sets of airbags, one set had internal bump stops. When I was loaded and pulling a trailer they helped, otherwise they were a harsh ride, even with 0 air and schrader valves removed. I took the bags off, got aftermarket bump stops. I didn’t run loaded enough to justify the harsh ride.
I’m giving both sets of airbags away to anyone willing to pick ‘em up.

that’s pretty much my experience with airbags on my last truck. Primary reason I won’t put them on this truck. I went with the RAS setup. Ride is still great but takes some of the load.
