I cut my factory stereo wiring plug right off the harness. I'm thinking Flux solder and liquid electrical tape

I solder and heat shrink connections, then friction wrap the section.

At the age of these trucks, I'm sure many have lost the factory connectors. I never plan to reinstall my factory radio, but I used the adapter harness to make the install easier.

I've had my OEM HU, amp, and speakers in my attic for 8 years.
I thought I would probably put it back in the truck if I ever sold or traded it.
But as years go by, I'd probably just leave it in there..

I would use crimp connectors of the correct size for the wire gauge, reason being is when you solder it wicks up the wire and when solidified it will create a stress point that can break with vibration at that spot.

If you heat the wire that much, the insulation will melt and you'll have bigger issues. I've never had to fix a solder connection, but have seen crimp connector break or damage the wire.

Some people do not mechanically connect the wires correctly and rely on solder, which does create a stress point. Solder is an electrical connection in wiring not meant to physically join them.

Ok with any of it as long as they fix their own wiring.
