I picked up a 2019 tailgate to replace my dented up 2015 model year tailgate thinking this would be a simple swap. I pulled the panel to swap the lock cylinder and backup camera and to my surprise the entire latch assembly is different. It looks like it has a solenoid for locking/unlocking? What needs to happen to get that feature to work with my 2015? I am guessing if that is a no go I am just going to have to swap the entire latch assembly. Having a power locking tailgate would sure be nice though.

You would have to run power to the rear door lock wiring harness. When you buy the tailgate lock kit from Toyota it comes with all the wiring and diagrams as to where to wire it in.
