Hi, I have a 2008 tundra double cab 4x4 with 380lb arb bumper. Im looking at buying a Capri cowboy camper that weighs 1300 pounds dry.
I also want to be able to carry my 350lb drz400. I was thinking about having a hitch welded on the bumper, so that less weight would be on the rear axle and less leverage on the frame. I want some opinions on if this would hurt the frame, or vehicle in general. Obviously I would be over payload, would go through breaks quicker, and could get in trouble with insurance. Do you guys think this is a bad idea and I should sell my tundra and get a ram? Thanks.

I forgot to add the Toyota vehicle sheet with vin says payload is 1680, and door sticker says 1350, do you know what’s up with that?

If the dealership added anything to the truck like bedliner or any accessories, that weight gets subtracted from the starting amount and they add a new sticker to your door jam.

Put the camper on a little trailer and bike in the box.

I don’t want to have to haul a trailer everywhere, I guess I just have to sell it and get a ram 3500 eventually.

I don't use it much anymore but used a versa haul for years. Goes in your slide hitch. Rail are movable for different widths. Bikes or Atvs
I even used it with my 2000 so your 08 can take it.

Would not recommend exceeding the payload limit. As you mentioned, there are potential insurance issues and possible safety issues that may affect others on the road. Those limits are there for a reason and not a suggestion.
As far as hanging anything off the frame, I just removed the rear bumper/hitch assy on my 07 CrewMax, and could not believe how massive the brackets that bolt to the frame were. Each brkt was held in place with 6 large bolts. I would check to see what Toyota says the max tongue weight is and use that as a max limit.
