I bet hopefully not but they gonna say it’s normal, mine is hybrid and the only ones complaining about that noise as far as I know had been hybrids but I see you have an sr5 so who knows.

As of right now I have 15k miles on mine, noise is the same as it was when it started at 2k miles no performance issues it shifts smooth and hybrid works fine.

I'm not sure how "difficult" you want to be but I would make them get you a rental. Clearly there Is something wrong and driving it more will cause more problems.

You do want to insist on a loaner. It takes them 1-2 months to do engine rebuilt

I would totally force it if it came down to that, but now its 3 tundras I get to hear today and they all seem to make this noise. I've yet to run in a tundra that isn't making the noise personally.

Don't chalk it up to just being normal, it isn't, I wouldn't.

This definitely sounds like direct injection pump noise.

I just listened to my truck from all sides, started cold and waited 5 min. It does not have this rattling sound that you posted in your v2 video.

Are you saying that dealer had you listen to 3 trucks and they all had this rattling sound? That can't be possible.

Idk about Toyota engines much but it sounds exactly like a lifter that gets stuck and chewing through the cams shaft on my previous ram.

Where is your noise coming from? It looks like you're holding your phone next to transmission or am I mistaken?

Update: the dealer called me and asked if I finished my break In yet which ironically did by 2km after they called... im at 1645km suddenly she's quiet then it's ever been. I'm now waiting to see if the noise will pop again.

I did go close to the transmission but honestly it sounds more like near the turbos underneath or side

You need to get yourself one of these to help pinpoint the noise source.

Mine does this. At low speeds it has a weird ticking / rattling sound. I figured it had something to do with the hybrid system. I honestly haven’t thought much of it.

I purchased this stethoscope the other day and noise came back, my friend was working late at the shop and let me use a hoist. We hoisted the truck and it's DEFINITELY 100% the transmission. It's funny because someone first said transmission in the early replies of this thread. We found that placing the truck in any gear other than park cancelled the noise. Then when you park the truck again it stays off.

It's a very hit or miss situation so there's a component in the transmission making the racket. It was really loud on the stethoscope, you couldn't mistake it!

As much as I hate having to go to the dealership, it might be in your best interest to give them a visit. Complain about the noise, show them the vid you took so that it can be put into your file. You still have plenty of time on the powertrain warranty, but being proactive is always the best IMO to protect yourself if they claim the problem might be something you did, and not a defect. Good luck.

After several dealership visits, and 5 days worth of truck being in the shop for diagnosis, they are ordering me a new transmission so we will see. Toyota 2023 SR5 (L)

I will install my second trans probably at next month. The tech told me they should install a trans makes in 2023 instead of 2022, maybe that is reason why my first replacement doesn’t work.

So it took them 2 month since you first started reported this issue to order a new transmission for you?

    Yep,

I would like to report the new transmission and torque converter is now installed and I don't hear the grinding/ticking noise anymore so far. It is winter here however so we will see in spring when the warmer temperatures climb.

One thing I did notice however, when leaving from a stopped position the first gear your in to the next is no longer delayed.

Any new updates? My truck already replaced 2 transmissions, the 2nd one at beginning is pretty good until I find the noise comes back again at this week.

My 24’ Limited just started making this same exact noise. I’ve got 125 miles on it.

Only thing I hear on my truck is door rattles seats creaking ac compressor thuds when turned on if the engine is cold and my blower motor sounds weird sometimes I can hear it from the vents rattling trying to ping the closest junkyard. I have it documented and showed it to the dealer and apparently the Toyota field tech wants the issues to get worse to approve warranty claim. I hope you get yours fixed owning this truck has been interesting a lot of visiting the dealer and stealing their coffee and the unlucky sales man to approach me will be convinced to let me test drive a 2g or 3g tundra lol.

I even believe it might be the feature of this transmission, or it’s maybe normal. I already replaced 2 of them, including the original trans, totally I had 3 of them, but all of them made this kind of noise. Bring it to the dealer first and then we will see. Ion by the way if you can update anything later that would be great.
