The wheel bearings definitely need to be replaced. I'm just not sure if that's the only issue.

Mine never made a peep before we headed to cinders last year, but it was definitely apparent it was a single rear bearing

My buddy who runs a Toyota off-road shop told me my wheel bearings would be due soon when he did my regear. That was April 2022. The hum at 45mph+ started after the last Hidden Falls trip with @Mr.bee in October. I got stuck in a mud pit up to my sliders. I need MTs. Or I need to stay out of the mud.
I think the "wah-wah" on deceleration started a long time ago.

Are the Kenda Klever 35x10.5r17's considered a mild MT or an aggressive AT?

I'll just suggest you verify the rear diff breather is functioning. They tend to get gummed up after 18 years.

So we had a thing at church today we volunteered for that was going to take all day. On today, of all days, I get a notification about a black 1st GEN topper on marketplace for $280. I was so excited and so disappointed at the same time because I knew that there was no way I would be able to break away from there anytime soon. I even sent the listing to Jon in case it was something that he would be able to snatch up today because I knew it wouldn’t last long. Fortunately, he was not able to get away to grab it either. I was tempted to post it up in our camper shells thread, but it just kept eating at me that I was going to end up letting this opportunity pass me by.

I was finally able to situate things to where I could break away for one hour. Against my better judgment, I bought it at night and in the dark with a flashlight. I paid $250 cash. I don’t know what brand it is. It has all of the doors and they open. The clearcoat is peeling, there are no keys and the struts are shot. However, it is a direct fit top for my truck, with the highly sought windoors and it’s black. I don’t believe that I will be too disappointed come tomorrow when I see it in the daylight and start fiddling with it and looking it over.

Nice! Single windoor runs more than you paid for it, so what the hell?!

I don't recognize the brand. What does the riveted badge say just under the non-sliding cab-side window? The interior makes it look like an older Leer. I wouldn't trust the J-hook clamps when offroading. I can link you up with some better scAmazon clamps if you want 'em.

I’ll get in there and look tomorrow. I know that I need to adjust the latches. Again, I know that it needs work, but I also know that I won’t be disappointed when I see it for the first time in the daylight tomorrow.

I think it was their mobile site messing with me. The part number I had, that looks just like our tube, said "fits vehicle", but it was referring to product below what I was looking at.

Pretty sure this isn't for us.

@shifty` oh I'll get you dem pics!

I know K&N also had a "Jr." kit that was the same thing, just a tube and a new filter for the OEM box. Not sure if they still make em either.
I also recommend the Volant CAI, as it comes with it's own airbox and has some cool filter options. I've got one on my other truck with the prefilter sock over the cone filter. I did that because the previous owner removed the passenger side fender liner and had installed some no name CAI. So the tire was pitching road debris right at the filter. I figured an OEM air box, filter, and tube would cost just as much as the Volant CAI. I like it so far and the prefilter sock gives me a little extra piece of mind.

Welp, there you go. You got yourself a bona fide Snugtop at about 1/7th what it normally costs, and all it needs is some paint, and maybe cleaning of that interior carpet, some hydros, and a key that costs $8 shipped. SCORE!

Alright, so that was a long weekend…. Finally finished paint matching my side molding. Turned out pretty decent, obviously not a perfect paint match in the sunlight but I’m pretty happy about it regardless.

    IMG_8775.jpg IMG_8776.jpg IMG_8779.jpg

While I was at it, I also decided to hit the fender flares with some Raptor Liner. Looks pretty good, unfortunately it makes the rest of the faded plastic stand out like a sore thumb.

I found them on Instagram but they had a booth at Sema this year. I struggle helping my husband install a regular camper but this thing is so easy between the two of us. He could probably lift it himself honestly.
