Quick question on where to tap highbeams

I'm a fan of simplicity and not poking holes in the OEM wiring harnesses. As part of another thread posted earlier on a dual-relay design, I want to trigger certain aux lights from the highbeams.

I have aftermarket headlights installed and this gives me a location I could feasibly tap a highbeam trigger signal to the second relay, but I also look at the fusebox in the engine compartment and see that fuses 24 and 29 are the highbeam fuses. Are they relayed before, or after that point, or could I just throw one of my add-a-fuses in 24 or 29 and call it a day, instead of disassembling the front end to stick a positap on a wire in the aftermarket housing adapter harness?

I used an add a fuse on one of those as a trigger for my SP9100. No issues doing it that way. Depending on the draw on your aux lights, I’d recommend using a relay. Do you have a link to your other thread/post?

Perfect, this is the way then, thanks!

Yup, I'm doing a dual-relay setup, one relay triggered by push button in the cab, and second relay to trigger off the high beams. That way my aux lights only come on via the high beams, and only when the circuit is on deliberately!

I don't know what year your truck is or if you originally had halogen or LED.
I'm going to guess halogen, or you wouldn't have replaced them.
But to answer your question, the relay comes before the actual hibeam fuses.
Then directly to the headlight bulbs.

    Good luck.

Yeah the 2016 SR5 halogens were painful, I bought my truck 3 hours away from home just as the sun was setting, and that drive home was scary, hah. I had my fiance drive her Subaru in front. First thing I did when I got home was grab a set of LED headlights and the harness for 'em came with. I know AlphaRex isn't wildly celebrated but they've been so much better for over a year now!

Thanks for the diagram confirming! Adding the fuse tap is way I'll be going then, looks like, good stuff.
