Definitely, I remember. I love it. It's similarly priced to all the big company mass produced ones too. It's not until you get into the winch that things get real pricey. You can def save yourself money by getting the universal bumper paired with any winch and lightbar. If u don't need the winch and or lightbar bingo, just saved yourself more coin. I'm impressed by the quality and attention to detail on it. Plus I didn't want to get a bumper or (bullbar) like that Cena just like everyone else.

I REALLY wanted one for my 4Runner when they first came out with them a few years ago. Glad to see they made a version for the Tundra!

Glad I can help you're welcome. Yeah they've been producing for the 4runner and tocomas for awhile now. It was for this reason I felt comfortable taking the chance on my tundra despite the lack of any reviews for the Tundra. Guys with the other vehicles were happy so I felt comfortable going forward. Figured I'd be the test dummy for my fellow tundra owners. There's a few floating around out there on Tundras and everyone I've spoken to loves them too.

If you do decide to spend any money on an aftermarket bumper I'd strongly recommend taking a serious look at the sso slimline hybrid. This bumper is very lightweight for a bumper and with the winch weight I can tell it's there. I'm sure if u just got the bumper and lightbar u wouldn't feel it. But if u got 1 of those big ass other bumpers with a winch like I did I'm guessing the vehicle will handle very different due to all that extra weight. Just something else u might want to consider b4 purchasing anything when time is right. I can feel it up there but it doesn't hurt the ride. Honestly, if I went with a much heavier bumper and same heavy winch I'm not sure I'd be happy with the ride impact on it. This bumper like the universal model paired with any other lighter winch you probably wouldn't even notice the feel of it being up there. Just my .02 to consider.

 

Thanks Brian, that was important to me. Clean hiding winch and light bar, amongst bunch of other benefits, but def gotta look good and serve some function to go on. Can't make it on with only 1 of the 2, gotta check both boxes or I pass.

 

Thanks Chris, that's what I was hoping for. To let people know it's out there and they don't have to be afraid of it. I love it and thinks it only adds to the truck without taking anything away. I try to do most of my mods with that in mind. Keep the truck the truck, just make it better. Imo what this bumper adds like ability to hide winch and light bar while mounting it in perfect spot for visibility plus bunch of other things makes it way better.

 

See I knew the panty dropper would strike again lol.

 

Sorry if you mentioned it already but what did the whole thing cost(bumper, winch, light etc)? I really like that setup and will probably end up with a similar route but need to start saving my pennies

Hey Paul, I'm not trying to b a dick by not giving u an answer. But ur best bet is to go on the sso website and build what u need/want and see what it comes out to. They have many different options that even go beyond the site. Ur best bet is to build it because chances are you will probably not need or want exactly what I got. Again not being a jerk, I just don't want to discourage you from looking because my particular setup is pretty damn expensive. Just to give u an idea, the specific warn winch alone is almost 2 grand which has nothing to do with the bumper company. If you didn't need such an expensive winch or don't plan to use a winch as much as me you can go with a much less expensive say smittybuilt winch and the sso universal bumper. That switch alone would save you over a grand. Or if u didn't need winch that would almost save u 2 grand. Then ur just looking at cost of either oem or universal bumper that u can pair with a lightbar or not(obvi lightbar manufacturer effects price too, lot of options there too), stinger or not,powder coat or not, wire harness or not, warn winch relocate kit or not, ect ect, see what I mean. If u don't need winch now but want option to add later consider the cover plate, keep on til u get winch then remove. That's all I mean, ur best bet is to check out their site and u can see right there the cost of everything and that will probably help u make a decision on what u want or need on your particular setup. Same as winch with lightbar, that's from Baja designs, great light but again pricey. Also don't have to do directly with sso bumper. U can put a cree light for much less, or a rigid with a different color backlight. I'm not sure u can ask sso but I'm guessing if u wanted smaller length or no lightbar that's probably possibility too. I know some tocoma and 4tunner guys that have these bumpers set up in so many different ways since they been out longer on those models. Hope my answer helps bc honestly that'd b ur best bet. Set up ur way taking price into consideration, that's why they give guys bunch of different configurations. Different needs and wants, different price. It's not really a one size shoe fits all product.

I've wanted one of these things since I saw one on a 4runner. Looks legit, but I can't get over the total package as you have it, will need to save them dollars!

I hear ya, same here. I saw 1 on a Tocoma and said damn, I wish I could get that on a Tundra. Low and behold they started making for it. Soon as I saw that I started saving and said I'm getting 1 asap b4 everyone else does. I like having things that not everyone else does, being different. That's what kills me about the pro grill. When Toyota 1st came out with trd pro I knew soon as I saw it I needed one. I loved fact it was different than all other tundras. Now everybody got the pro grill and making me want to change mine lol. Keep in mind ask has tons of options for the bumper and whole setup. You don't need to spend anywhere near what I did if u change a couple small things up on the whole setup, I'm talking winch and lightbar. If u went different direction there it would save u ton of money and still look similar., just tailored and made for u specific to ur needs. I almost went with the sso universal bumper and smittybuilt winch, that alone would have been significantly less. I've also seen people with just bumper and lightbar, or just bumper n winch, and just bumper without winch and lightbar. It still looked sick. Forgot the non ask products, I'm just a huge fan of the look and design of the sso bumper. If I didn't need winch and already had lightbar or didn't need lightbar I still would have just got the bumper. I love the look and extra protection it provides at very light weight. Sneaking both winch and LB in it sealed the deal for me. But my point is I've seen these bumpers set up in so many different ways and every single one I've seen on no matter the toyota model vehicle it was dope as F. Now get to saving them pretty pennies. Good luck and I wish u amass the wealth needed quickly to get your setup sooner than later. No matter how u decide to set yours up, I strongly feel any setup combination with this bumper can't go wrong. Always turns out sick looking.

Awwww tnx Dave, that means alot. I really appreciate that. Lot of time and $. 1 day when I get around to it I'll do a build thread for everyone. Not that I got a sr5 and upgraded everything from ground up. But none the less, I took an already well built pro and added a whole bunch of stuff to make it better imo. Still got bunch of little things to do but I've tried to knock out all the big stuff 1st. Shit even with all I've already done I still got a couple more somewhat big ones on the list like headlight retro, upgrade fogs, and a dap tune. Would love a sc too but i don't think I'll be putting another 7 grand into it unless someone wants to buy 1 for me. For now I think the DAP tune will give me a little more go with my show and satisfy me until I hit the lotto and get that Magnusson.

 

Think I'm gonna have to follow you so I can keep tab on your progress. If I remember correctly when you first posted something about the Southern style slim line bumper I thought about getting one myself, but I got cheap and lazy and just opted for a light bar in the bumper ...lol.

 

Hey feel free to follow Dave. I try to do little by little or big by big. I usually can't last too long without doing something. I still got some trucks and goodies up my sleeve in near future. Not to brag but might be worth a follow to check out. I think I'm going to get bunch of winch accessories next factor 55 goodies. Then I need to decide if I want dap remote tune or more lighting upgrades. Decisions decisions. Not to tempt ya, but hey it's never too late to take that light bar off and mount it into a new sso bumper. Redeem urself from the laziness lol. I'm planning some more cool stuff pretty soon, just got to get my money right to do it. I'd be flattered to be followed, must mean I'm doing something right. Hey no pressure Dave, not my company where I need u to buy now, lol. Just wanted u to know that the owner Kevin is a great guy to do biz with and he's made a kick ass bumper for our trucks. No need for anyone to doubt the product. I hear u loud n clear on funds being tight. I build up little cushion then the truck sucks it right out my account. Good thing I'm the money guy in my fam sending out all the bills and staying on top of what's in and going out, if the ol lady only knew how much I put into my truck I'd never hear the end. The little she does know gets thrown in my face everytime we argue about money. If she had all that ammo she'd hurry me with that info. Lol. Hey take care buddy and I'll touch base when ready to do build thread.
