I was thinking the smell in the beginning was the undercoating that toyota sprayed on was burning off . But now I am getting concerned.

Is it only when driving or afterwards? What conditions does it present itself?

Hybrid? Hybrid batteries have a distinct oily smell when they heat up. More distinct when new

Yes it's a hybrid. Usually I smell it after I drive for a hour on the highway. I drive about 750 miles or more a week . Second week of owning this truck

I had the same thing happen. The first week it was pretty strong. Strong enough that I was wondering if I should be breathing it. A few road trips later it was gone and forgotten about.

Well it’s a new truck and it’s under warranty. Why should anyone especially non mechanical person diagnose their problems. But if you need the dealer to put air in your tire then you shouldn’t own a truck.

There’s only one guy I know of that’s out of luck and he doesn’t need it.

This may or may not help. I went to install a JB4 a few days ago. First time I had been under the hood. I’ve only had the truck a few months. When I removed the engine cover, I noticed oil on it as well as several other parts of engine. I just happened to look at oil dip stick and it was sticking out a couple inches. It’s the only place I could imagine the oil came from. I seated it back into place. I will check again in a few days.
