Have a cracked windshield. Was wondering what kind of costs people are seeing for both OEM and aftermarket parts. Just got a quote for OEM that was over 1K more than aftermarket.

You need to see if you have replacement coverage on your insurance. You need to trust us and stay away from Safelite.

I do have coverage, but the insurance company won't accept us if we file a claim and we won't be able to switch companies.

Not sure about Maryland, but I use a local company to replace the windshields in Colorado when they crack and its far cheaper than that. Usually $300-400 bucks on our old 2015. Mind you it doesn't need calibration. But I can't imagine its over $1k nowadays. Id look around for someone local. Forget Safelite.

Not questioning that you having a bad experience with Safelite but I think it's location dependent on how good they are since it is a franchise. I've used my local Safelite for close to 20 years, it used to be Giant glass before that and have always had a good experience, they replaced the glass in my Tundra with TSS and had 0 issues. If you look up different Safelite locations you'll see wide ranging reviews.
