HDMI in the center console!

I was sketchy about trying to make this work because you get one shot cutting into the console, but it worked out awesome! Didn't have to fool with the dash at all. Firestick is tucked away and you would never know its there.

 

No issues with remote signal? I have a Roku under the dash on the passenger side. I had the regular version at first but the remote didn't work unless I held it over the passenger seat. I switched it out for the Express 4k version....problem solved.

 

Nope. No issues at all! Works great from anywhere in the truck.

 

GOTTA wire in the E-brake defeat though. One of he best $20 I've ever spent.

 

I have one right under my stereo.

 

Are you connecting the firestick wifi to your phone's wifi hotspot, or what?

Thanks for sharing. How are you getting to the hdmi input to the screen? What does the screen look like to access your Firestick?

 

The head unit is an Alpine iLX-F511...It has an HDMI input on the back side. The input that I installed in the console is basically just an extension cable.

 

On a side note.......those little retro-mini Nintendos are perfect for when you got time to kill and got a hankering for playing some Punch-Out or Super Mario.

 

I bought the same unit and want to install in my 2020 this weekend. I bought a combo USB/HDMI cable like yours .. where do I hook up the other end of the USB on the back of the unit ? I can’t find anything on it

Santa is bringing me the same alpine as you have this year (I’ve been very good : ) and am looking to do something similar, but was hoping to put a round HDMI/usb combo directly right of the existing 12v accessory port. Do you think this is doable without too much plastic hacking on the backside?

I was considering that, but wife and kids are rough on the truck and worried they would snap fire stick off at that location hence reason I prefer to put in the center console : )

 

How did you get you power to plug in the fire stick?

 

Do you know if anyone has done a writeup on the E-brake defeat? I searched and couldn't find anything.

 

What do you mean you had to re-wire the E-break? Would this be something I have to do if i want to do this?

 

Thanks for the write up. I did this same setup, came out clean! Ordered the brake bypass wires but ended up letting Cartoys install them($80) since I couldn’t decipher wire connections and didn’t want to ruin the HU.
