I am looking at a 2000 Tundra V6 5spd.manual Access Cab. Looks to be in great shape. One owner, but has a LOT of miles.
    290,000.
Most were freeway commute. Owner maintained the truck diligently and it shows.
I have seen several for sale with more miles and just want some direction. Toyota replaced the whole frame and suspension parts about 10,000 miles ago.
I know my buddy has an older Toyota pickup and he has 350,000 plus miles on it and still does its job.
Thanks in advance for your replies.by

This is a lot of miles on any vehicle. I hope it works for you.
    Where are you, wickenburg?

Welcome from Wisconsin! 290 is a lot of miles but then again we've all recently seen the million mile Tundra. Last year I sold, of all things, a 4.7 Dodge Dakota with 268,000 on it and I had done all of the maintenance on it. I actually saw the truck today and it's creeping up on 290,000. It needed a wheel bearing and when it was in for service the mechanic said it's perfectly sound and had plenty of life left in it. In the end only you can decide but if it suits your needs, I say go for it, it is after all, a TOYOTA!

Welcome from SoCal, just gave the nephew my 2006 access cab with 276,000 miles and was still going strong. Put Mobil 1 full synthetic since 20,000 when I purchased it.

The owner is an older guy like myself. Drove it reasonably. Think I'm going to go for it. I'm retired so it won't be driven a lot. I'm trading one of my cars for it so if I can get a year out of it I'll be good. They are a bunch for sale with more miles thsn this one has on it. Also quite a few in the junk yards in Vegas and Phoenix.

If it is a good, fair price do it.

It is a Toyota after all.

    Welcome from Texas.

The average miles a year put on the vehicle is about 17k....which is about average. It's a 17 year old vehicle, I wouldn't expect it to be too much lower. I would have it checked out by a mechanic to ensure it was still good to go and find out what they thought would need to be replaced in the near future.

I had an '87 Toyota SR5 pickup and when I sold it, it had over 200K and it was 18 years old. I drove the hell out of it.

Can you do a leakdown test or at least a compression test before you buy it?

Truck is not local and I will be trading one of my cars for it. I do know that it has been maintained very well and the pictures show that. Truck was owned by a senior guy like myself. has a couple dings from use but nothing I can't live with. Interior looks really great for the mileage. received_10156312614519746.jpg received_10156312614544746.jpg
