(2023 Tundra) Does anyone get/notice a pretty noticeable CLUNK when cruising on the interstate and then hammering down to pass a vehicle? I am thinking it is probably the transmission jumping down multiple gears and trying to do it fast.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

No, I've never noticed it, but I usually wait until I don't have to mash the throttle to pass. I have gotten froggy a few times just to feel the turbos spool up, and the acceleration was strong, smooth, and predictable.

@Matt2015Tundra mine is VERY smooth if I ease into it or just don't mash it lol. I really wouldn't notice other than I got in the scenario where I needed throttle fast and pushed it down hard and fast. Thats when I notice the moderate clunk/thud. Not too worried just curious if others do it.

    Thanks!

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
The only times I notice clunks or horrendous sounds is at low speeds. Other than that, transmission smooth af even when smashing on hoes on i5.

@Sixty9Four20 Lol haha see, mine is smooth a slow speeds. Maybe its all perspective. Next time you get on I5, get to a good cruising speed, and just quickly hammer down 100 percent throttle. Let me know how it feels haha. Mines very smooth for the most part when Im "smashin hoes" on I75

Mine will make a tiny squeak when shifting from first to second when really getting it. Sounds like the belt but I pretend it's the tires spinning. :burnrubber:

I have a few gripes with my tundra, but transmission shifts is not one of them. Very smooth on the highway, passing, merging, etc.

@Bourbonator I would agree. Shifting is incredibly smooth in this truck. The shift I just described it just noticeably different, I guess haha. I think its a cold morning highway thing.

@ryanwgregg interesting! I only ever seem to get it when I mash it fast. Seems worse on cold days. Other than that, rolling into it or moderate accelerations to pass, I do not feel it. If you don't mind update us when you hear something.

@ryanwgregg hmmm, almost sounds like you've got a lot more going on than the normal Transmisson. Mine definitely has the throttle delay; it has scared me a few times in traffic. It is very had if I don't come to a complete stop on an incline and try to take off again. I can press gas 75% until it moves. I will have them do the TSB at my 10k service. (have you had it done?)

Is there a way to monitor the trans temp on this truck? I am really curious how long it takes to get up to temp.
