Safety scandal

Anybody read this yet?
Allegedly 30 years of fabricated safety results for Toyota, 3 plants in Japan and all abroad have haulted production possibly till the end if January.
I don't understand how independent studies results could vary from what Toyota has manufactured differently without a flag being thrown years previously.
Again this is Alleged...

 

It was a Toyota owned company, Daihatsu, not Toyota. None of the vehicles made for the US are impacted, and only the small trucks, vans, and the Mira (not the Mirai) that actually had the Toyota brand on them.
