Ugh. Some jackwagon hit my truck while parked at a family Christmas gathering. Hit hard enough that the rear of my truck slid over a bit.

If there are any bodymen here, what would be the best way to fix this? Insurance’ll probably want to just do a box side?

    Thanks for any input!

Beautiful truck! I'm so sorry they left after hitting your truck, absolutely no morals. Its definitely worth looking for neighbors videos and I hope it gets fixed soon.

I’m betting it’ll be over 6k in our Canuck funny money.

The claims process has been started. Haven’t had the greatest luck with insurance companies and their ‘preferrred vendors’ in the past. Fingers crossed this time is different.

Nope. We checked with neighbors up and down the street. Only a few had them- it’s a small old-fashioned farming town- and they didn’t show anything.

Really kicking myself right now, for not having invested in a dashcam. Getting the perps plate would’ve been priceless.

Best way to fix would be to hunt down the guy that did it and beat his a@& !! Well it would feel good anyway.

I know it doesn't answer your original question but I'd tell neighbors to be on the lookout for someone with your color paint on a vehicle roaming around. Since it's a small town you might get lucky and have someone spot it. Good luck with repairs.

They were probably drunk and did not want to stick around to talk to the law.

These people need to have their cars crushed for this shit.

Rafael! It’s such a bummer man. Kept this truck pretty much mint for 7 years, and now this. Somehow it’s worse when the dirtbags just keep driving.

Yep. That was my first thought too. Drunk and/or expired license or insurance.

I'd take the cash from insurance and fix it my self. The bed side can pop out and with a little pulling you can get the gaps corrected along the tailgate. Can easily replace the corner bumper shell and the plastic step pad.

I think they had to take the box off to fix mine like that on a 2017. But was good as new when they were done. Sorry about the jerks. Hopefully karma will get them.

Completely sober and fully insured people still skip out if they think nobody saw. Your average person is only as honest as cameras and locks force them to be. People suck.

Very sorry to what happened to your Tundra!

It had to be a larger vehicle given the height of the damage to your fender and tail light. It sure wasn’t a Toyota Camry! Could have simply been a UPS/Amazon Delivery truck.

Not insurance advice but sometimes God sends us signs, this time he's telling you to to buy some after market armor ;) Lots of great choices for some beefy rear bumpers out there. Let's see them hit your truck after that. But seriously though, sorry about your rig :(

I did it with my Taco all the time. Something breaks or scratches or dents, great reason to buy something better than OEM

Had the same damage a couple of years ago. They replaced the bedside, bumper corner, even the undamaged trailer hitch. $6500 insurance claim.

Same thing happened to my sister on Christmas Eve. We were all at my parents house and one of the neighbors backed into her Highlander. Apparently they didn’t even look at the back up camera and just reversed straight into the car. People are just dumb.
The insurance shouldn’t ding you since you were not at fault but that also might depend if you have a clean driving record or not. If you have a low deductible just go through insurance. You can always shop around insurance if they increase your rates.
