Traded my 2018 Tacoma OR with $30k in mods installed myself for a 2021 Tundra Pro the other day. Still suffering from buyers remorse. Maybe I never should have sold my 2004 4Runner V8 to begin with…

However, Tacomas have ONE flaw which is a make it or break it issue: rear seat space specifically designed for car seats. If I could have found a modified seat, or made my own, to fit in the larger portion of the backseat, which allowed for 3-4 more inches of depth so that a car seat doesn’t cramp up to the front seat, then I’d still be driving the Tacoma.

Now I drive a Crewmax and there’s a couch back there.

And for whoever takes the time to read through my crying and complaining sob story… I will confess… V8 roars oh so nicely… Tundra is a superior vehicle for a suburban Dad.

What’s the buyers remorse? What are you not happy with?

He spent $30k in mods on a Taco that he no longer has...

Sounds like it goes way back to the V8 4Runner. Don’t like the Tundra?

Yup, $30k in mods going to a Dealer’s service lot stings. I saw a 2021 Tundra pro without rust and only 25k miles for under $55k, so I knew I had to jump at the opportunity now that V8 Tundras are extinct and will one day become collector’s items. I need to learn more about the Tundra to understand what it can do and how to make it even better with the right mods… Trail Grid Pro has a nice anytime camera and front camera… N2 Designs for remote controls… Eventually fitting some larger tires (35s without a cab mount chop possible??)… I miss the method wheels but the pro comes with forged bbs wheels and they are super expensive (not sure why), so I left them on… will put on a winch… not sure what else to do yet but taking it slow. What else does the pro need? Hoping I didn’t make a mistake by spending more on a pro than a SR5, but if I got an SR5 then I’d probably end up feeding $15-$20k to the mod addiction lol.

Buyers remorse from spending hours and late nights, bleeding and sweating, dirt under nails for days, after working on a Tacoma in a tiny garage, all to make a truck the absolute best it can be. And thinking that if Toyota just came up with a simple solution to fitting car seats as well as the new 4Runners fit, that they would prevent soooo many trade-ins and hasty sales.

Tacoma is nimble and gets the job done. It can take a beating. I’m unfamiliar with Tundras. The Tacoma to me was in its own class of off-roaders. Not everyone can afford a Land Cruiser, and having a pickup offers more utilization. Tundra is definitely a timeless looking truck, and so far it feels solid. MPGs on the this tundra are better than the Tacoma owned.

But hey, I’m super grateful to have the means and opportunity to find a seriously amazing truck. Don’t get me wrong. It’s just a different riding experience.

Sounds like you’ve got sellers remorse. Sad you sold your taco vs sad you bought a tundra. When I bought my new Tundra I knew I couldn’t get rid of my old one. So I kept it. It’s come in very handy since and I haven’t had to regret anything.

When you put it that way, yes, sellers remorse is exactly the feeling. Thought about it tonight - I should have kept it, rented it on Turo, and used the revenue to put towards the Tundra finance payment.

True. They both have their advantages/disadvantages. I still miss my 2010 Taco sometimes.
