Replacing my engine and do not know what this is. Something for the alternator?

A/C compressor. It gets sandwiched at the outer/bottom mounting bolt (four bolts attach the compressor to the block).

Yes, i got VERY familiar (intimate?) with pretty much each and every part...whether i wanted to or not. And i'm still getting intimate too. Hot summer's nights of passionate wrenching left me with winter's mornings of no regrets though.
