I was looking at going with California lemon law arbitrators, which I have heard are consumer friendly.

I still have the Truck. I wanted them to just swap it for another one. They wouldn’t, they only offered to buy it back. The main reason I didn’t want a buy back was because I would then have to go purchase another at the new price and finance rate. I had a $38k trade in, so I paid very little sales tax on this one. They only refund you the sales tax you paid. Since I no longer have a trade in, I’d have to pay tax on the full $60k. With the buy back, Toyota won’t pay the sales tax difference or difference in interest rate. This is why I wanted a 1 for 1 swap of the same truck, just not a lemon.

With the settlement, I got all the difference in cost, plus a bunch. I kept the truck because they still have to honor the warranty and I haven’t had problems since.

Has anyone else had these issues as last night coming home in the snow all my sensors were covered in ice and snow and suddenly it felt as though the rear brakes were suddenly applied for a split second, as if to control a sliding condition. The roads were covered in snow, but I had good traction. Then suddenly the dash lit up with all the warning lights flashing and I had the same situation where my power begin to slow down. I had to pull on to a shoulder which was not very wide. Very dangerous situation on a fairly busy road at night. I had parking brake malfunction as well as parking support brake malfunction, as well as pre-collision system malfunction and secondary collision brake system malfunction, flashing on the dash and the car engine turned off. I was able to restart the car after several attempts and make it home as I was fairly close to my house. Just curious if anybody else has had this happen. Decades long Toyota fan.

    Hi John,

These are the same issues I have been having with my truck since it was new, but in good weather conditions. I can see were bad weather could mess with the sensors but shutting down the engine does not seem like a safe response for the truck to have. The engine shutting down in the middle of the freeway has happened to me twice, and the feeling is not good. I have had all the warnings on the dashboard 8 times know. I have to pull over and turn the truck off and back on to get the truck running properly again. Toyota has not been able to figure out the problem and they have decided to buy it back after a lot of fighting with them. I hope you have better luck than I have working with Toyota!

Thanks for the reply,, so I just got home and in the mail is a limited service campaign from Toyota to reprogram the parking brake ecu. It says the electronic parking brake may come on and not release itself. Good luck with getting it finalized and yes I hope I don’t have to go through all of that.

Well 2 weeks later and I just picked up my truck. They changed the fuel rail and said I am good to go. Heading north tomorrow so fingers crossed. The fuel rail regulates the pressure to the injector's and my pressure was very low. I got a loaner vehicle and they detailed my truck great to have her back.

Yep happened to me on the freeway. A couple of months ago. Made a post about it and took my truck in to Toyota and they blamed it on my aux beams.

fast forward two days ago, I was making a left onto a busy street and the car went limp while I was inbetween both sides of traffic. second and a half pass and the truck gives me gas. If the guy heading towards me didn’t slow down I would of got Tboned

Terraj66. I had the same thing only it happened on a very snowy night,, I am in Canada. It then happened a lot,, 8 or more times,, when ever I slowed down and the rpm went below 1,000.. I found as long as I drove with both feet and kept the rpm above 1000 I was able to get to the dealer. They ran a bunch of tests and my fuel pressure at the injectors was really low. Installed a new fuel rail which regulates the pressure and so far so good.
