    Howzit guys,
New member here and figure I document the overhaul of my recently acquired 1st gen. Bought it back in January for much more than it’s worth and started to make it “driveable”. My current plan is to completely rebuild the interior, suspension and engine. I don’t care much about the body as it will be used mostly as my hunting/adventure rig and I’m sure I’ll be thrashing here and there. Here’s what we starting with…

Started with the front suspension. I live in Hawaii so cost of shipping is a factor. I managed to piece together an Icon Stage 2 kit for $1200 with prime shipping through Amazon. My friend at work had a set of Camburg UCA’s that he let go for $600. The Tundra originally came with Sw13 calipers, so off to Oreilly for the updated calipers and rotors (I brought my old Tacoma calipers for the core charge). After some wire wheels, degreaser, and raptor liner.

    After:

I did have to change out all tie rods, LBJ, and links/bushings. It appears previous owner had a failed LBJ some time in this trucks history as the drivers side wheel wheel and fender shows signs of a catastrophe

With the front done, I put my womans to work with cleaning up the rear ;)

Got the frame cleaned up, painted and the Icon shocks and progressive leafs installed.

Thinking about flat bedding this one day so while the bed was off, I took some measurements of the frame for future reference.

Took a break With the exterior and started working on some of the interior parts. Previous owner gauged the crap out of the dash trying to install an aftermarket stereo. Got the dash apart, patched up, and sanded smooth. Ready for primer.
To windy to prime today, better luck tomorrow. Had some daylight left so me and the Mrs. started working on the headliner. Got all the old foam scraped off. Pic is me mocking up a switch panel I’m incorporating before laying down the new fabric.

Looks awesome - I plan to pull the bed and do a full frame painting this winter. You've re-inspired me with the look of this one.

Removing the bed wasn’t too bad at all. I managed to get it off with just my wife. I lost two of the bed bolts due to heavy corrosion so you might want to keep that it mind. They tend to break off in the sleeve (mid way down the bolt shaft).

Well, it’s been forever since I updated this. Finally got around to working on the Tundra.

Got done sanding and painting some of the dash pieces. This is going to be my hunting/adventure rig so thought olive drab would look decent.

I like the contrast in colors. The bottom half was painted in raptor liner hence the textured look and yes that’s a Lexus steering wheel from a GS300. Fits right into the splines no issues (so do the celica/Lexus IS)
