    Hi All,

    I recently purchased a 2023 tundra platinum crewman after I realized my newly acquired travel trailer was a bit much for my old pilot.

    With and without the trailer, I've felt some vibrations and am having a hard time keeping the vehicle centered in the lane at high speeds (55-65 mph towing, 65-80 mph without the trailer); the steering feels loose. I do use a WDH with sway control.

    I brought the truck to the dealer who did a road force balance and alignment. The alignment paper (attached) shows the caster in the red, lower than the green numbers. The dealer told me it was within spec, but if that's true, I would think it would be green and not red.

    I assume the caster being too low is causing the drivability issues?

    Is the caster adjustable on a tundra without the TRD suspension?

    Is the dealer correct about this being in spec or is the service advisor wrong?

    Thank you all for your help. This is my first body on frame vehicle, so I'm not sure if I'm expecting too smooth of a ride from it.

    Looks like a Toe and go alignment to me. I have a family own shop (only does alignments) and he sets the toe to 0.
    Make sure your WDH is set up correctly for the new truck also.

    How many miles do you have on your tires? When was the last time you had them rotated? I have had issues with loose steering feeling because the tires needed to be replaced.

    Sorry, I should've included that, it has less than 3k miles, it's only 2 months old. I first noticed around 600 miles.

    hmm, that seems too low to be a tire wear problem. Do you keep the tires pressurized to spec? Have you tried rotating the back wheels to the front to see if it helps?

    I would ask your dealer to bring caster within spec. 3.4 and 3.3 is, according to the sheet itself, out of spec (4.5 - 6.0).

    Caster will not cause a vibration. Caster is a handling adjustment. Those caster numbers are actually pretty good. The truck should drive pretty good down the road. Vibration is never from Alignment. Bad alignment can cause tire wear which ultimately can cause noise and or vibration.

    I have 2600 miles on my 23' TRD Off Road and am noticing feathering on the sidewalls also. I also let the steering wheel go on various roads and highways and it's pulling to the right and left at various points. Does not go straight for long. I have an appointment with the dealer on Thursday. We'll see what they say, not a big fan of the dealer I'm going to but in my area there are not many options. I'm surprised a class action has not been started yet.
