Alternator melting output wire.

    Good day,

    I had an alternator go bad on me. Pulled it off and figured out that the output wire melted. What would cause this? It was right there where the connection is.

    Than can I reuse the wire, clean it up, or new wiring harness? I know the one of the wire is a bad picture.
