I use a rewards card and I use it for any automated payment things like buying fuel at the pump. The security on it is good and if it gets jacked I'm not liable for it. I do get cash for tipping at restaurants (so they don't have to claim all of it if they don't want to) or for buying fuel locally for the cash discount. It's handy to help somebody out on occasion as well. I've had family come to visit and I've given them cash to cover their fuel, for example. I also use it if somebody in the office is making a run for beverages or snacks if I want anything, though I'm usually the fatty that is making the run. :D

This is why we try to listen to the old wise men. They drink and know things. :D

I have learned more about life, cooking, grilling, finances, knives, guns,....you name it, from Tundras.com and Tacomaworld.com than all the other websites combined. :)

Sometimes but not often. My wife usually does and can't stand that I don't normally have cash on me.

I just checked my wallet…..I have $2 in cash and literally have no idea how it got there. I can’t remember the last time I had cash or went to the atm - so long ago that I don’t even know if I remember my pin. We have a southwest rewards card and haven’t paid for flights in years for our family of four all based off if the rewards. We pay it off every month and don’t carry balances unless there’s a huge unexpected expense. I am not necessarily against carrying cash but more and more places (especially food places) require card payments.

I’ve been thinking about this thread

when it comes to cash do you carry
    $500 or more
    $300
    $100
    Less than $100

I think I only carry about $100 at any given time. These times I don’t want to have to involuntarily give it up

Wise practice... you're 100% right, cash is king! Especially when the internet goes down and the Credit Card, Debit Card, Apple Pay, etc. do not work anymore! Yes, I always have some cash on me.

I carry about $150 in my wallet for emergencies. I use a cash back rewards card for everything else, including monthly bills. I pay the balance off every month. However, due to being the victim of a gas pump card skimmer several years ago on a road trip, I use cash at gas stations when on road trips far from home base.
