Lol pretty sure everyone warned you when you posted your thread about 37"

Good luck selling it, I would not touch a truck with modified frame, especially the part that prevents the front wheels from being pushed into the cabin

Take it to multiple dealers. We did that with our 4Runner until we got a trade-in we were happy with vs selling privately.

Also, do you need to haul heavy long distances? My buddy (we co-hobby ranch his property) just picked up an '88 Chevy 3500 with dump bed for $6.5k. Sure, last trip with 10 round bails we had another friend haul with his 3/4 diesel HD in one trip, but it's irrelevant as we're getting them from down the road. All that to ask, won't a farm specific truck work?

I noted a dealer that still sends me emails was up to around 40 Tundras on the lot or inbound. Only 3-4 months ago they were in the 12-15 range every email. So inventory is rising for all brands. The Ford dealers near me are full lots again and the GM/Ram are stacking. All have a truck with a $10k off sticker on the front lawn.

My local Ram dealer is now 15-16k off msrp. They must be really hurting.

I'm also one of those buyers that sees a "modded or lifted" used truck and think no thanks, I don't want the problems those cause. Lots of pampered stock ones to buy.

Anybody that puts 50,000 miles a year on a vehicle is going to see huge depreciation. Toyota's reputation for quality offsets it a bit but with those mods and mileage, you are better off driving it until it is worthless because you are going to depreciate the next one too if you modify and drive it the same.

I picked up this unmolested err not modded, 2018 with around 32,500 miles on it with an owner that had a well documented maintenance history on it. I did have to buy it at a Ford dealer though because in Central Florida, all of the Toyota dealers have gone nuts with their add on fees. Heck Ford even put small warranty on it.

I do enjoy reading about how the 3rd gen are doing because about the time I will sell this one, the 3rd gen will be at the end of it's production run and likely perfected by then.

Yet another COVID era "everything will change forever" prediction that I figured would be proven wrong.

"people will never shake hands again"

"people will stop going to gyms"

"Dealers will never have inventory again, just a few test drive examples. It will be a build to order system."

A lot of psychology at play when selling a "lifted/modded" truck. Sure you'll find the younger buyers that are looking for a lifted truck with big tires etc but that market is firmly entrenched in the $20k range. With the internet at their disposal, they're going to shop at the "dealer trade in value" even while hunting for a private sale hoping for someone who is tired of hanging on to their truck.

OTOH, you'll have buyers (I'm in this category) that see the mods/lift/tires and immediately think that the seller is just looking to recoup the cost of the lift/wheels/tires. Right out of the gate, these buyers know you're asking about $5k too much in order to recoup that cost. It's unfair, but it's reality.

Finally, you'll see the response you're getting here - lift/wheels/tires = vehicle abuse, or more potential for it anyway, and shy away all together.

Being prior service, as much as it pains me to suggest "taking advantage of" young soldiers returning home from downrange with a monster knot that's burning up their pocket, that will likely be your market. And I dont really thinking it's taking advantage of, it's just putting something in a position to be successful.

You're moving to Georgia? Ft Benning has a pretty high op-tempo; might be your easiest route. :notsure:

You might have more success offloading a Dependa-wagon in Fayettenam than in Jacksonville from a purely numbers standpoint. But your marketing campaign is spot on.

Now this is the brand of forethought that has been sorely lacking around here!

"I know that reciprocating assembly bearings are a potential issue, THEREFORE... I will restrict the use of my timebomb truck to areas of deep mud, steep inclines replete with negative traction coefficients and other areas of zero assist recovery."

    Don't ever change, @Eurodriver

Yep, BCM that wasnt welded up..

Better off to either strip it down to stock and sell the parts, or keep it and drive it into the ground. I would have bought the platinum 150k warranty if I kept my truck (you're a little past that eligibility right now lol)

    I 2nd what @DexterL typed!

Probably get the same for the truck and sell the parts for another 5 - 10k.

I feel for you @Eurodriver. Not the best vehicular situation. Stripping the mods off doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Probably find some takeoffs cheap if you sold the original parts. Plus you wouldn’t be driving lifted 37s in suburbia, then.

As a consolation prize I’ll let you squeeze a few bursts on the m2 if you make it up to NC.

cutting off that piece that stops the wheel tire combo from being shoved into the cab during an accident was pretty much the death seal for trading in.

should have just left it stock and stuff 35"s on it, it would work just as well and resale wouldn't be in teh toilet

just keep it and drive and enjoy whats left of it and if you need more payload or whatever you can add another rig like a HD

Partly because people don’t / can’t / won’t work on anything anymore. They can charge whatever they want. Keeping a vehicle long term or owning something that takes a lot of upkeep doesn’t make financial sense, unless you’re handy with a wrench.

    Taking a guess.
1 hr. unhook whatever possible looking into engine bay
1 hr raise truck eye level and unhook everything from the frame underneath.
1 hr Lower truck and raise cab slowly to make sure everything was disconnected.
3 hrs (actually 1 x3 ) Grey Area - 3 guys in picture staring for 1 hour stunned at what has to be done for a repair nowadays. One of them taking pictures. or checking Tundra dot com.
2 hours for pulling bad parts and replacing.
    3 hours - Repeat 1st 3 steps in reverse.
    Total 11 hours.

I don't know if its "the best part" but trucks have the highest cost of ownership. After depreciation I believe maintenance and adding doodads to them is second.

Couldn't be clueless truck renters damaging them, when they have no idea how to tow or how much payload the truck can carry?

Damn look at the EV amount. Aren't we told they need nothing?

I wouldn't doubt the truck renters are truck owners that don't want to scuff those 37s or get the truck dirty.

Yep, the Fumoto valve is one of those nice little life hacks.

I run them on everything but our Chevrolet SS because that thing is low enough I have legitimate worries about anything that hangs below the under tray on that car.
