Right around the time I heard about the recall on trucks with the halogen headlights, I replaced mine with the OEM TRD Pro LEDs. I was already planning on it, but word of the recall made it seem like even more of a good idea.

By the time I got around to doing it, I was outside the window for repairs made prior to the announcement of the recall.

I’m not looking to get reimbursed or anything. I’d just like to get the recall marked as completed so it’s not forever linked to my VIN. I don’t want the dealer to perform the prescribed repair of cutting the wiring harness and splicing in relays, etc.

Has anybody had luck getting the dealer to simply mark that a remedy is in place and the recall has been completed?

To be honest I could care less about the recall not being done. I also did LED and I tried to get reimbursed but Toyota shot me and other down even though we did it at the right time, others got lucky and got paid. I dont think a dealer will write it off if it needs it but you have LED which solves the issue. I think it would be a liability for them if something should happen. Or they could care less also and write it off. I too didn't what that hack job Toyota calls a fix done to mine.

That’s what I thought. It would just be nice to get it cleared from my VIN. I hate getting the notices in the mail and in my email, and if I have to go to the dealer for anything they pester me about it.

If you take it in for the recall and they see you have LEDS they should clear the VIN info!

I didn't have the recall done to mine either. I also gave up on the reimbursement. Mine was denied about 6 times. I went off on the rep the last time that I called. I told her it BS that people who didn't meet the requirements were getting reimbursed. Mine was denied because they wanted a cause and remedy letter from the dealer. I told her that the site says "any of the below documents" not all. Anyway I moved on to complete 2 useful projects that SR5 DC's don't come with....rear AC and the power sliding window.

I'll find the word document that I did. It was pretty easy to do. Only around $300 or so. I have the parts list. The only hard part to get is the main duct but I have a brand new one in the garage. I ordered one and it went backorder, then my dealer said he had one. I went to cancel the other one and it showed up the next day.
