I haven't been able to find anything on this issue. One of my rear passenger windows makes a sound like hitting glass with a hammer the instant I start bringing it down or at the end of travel when it closes. It doesn't do it every time and it is hard to replicate when I stand outside with the door open. But, it happens most of the time. It sounds like the window is going to break but it hasn't so far.
    Any thoughts from this group?

We can sit here and speculate all day long.

You need to pop off the door card and inspect the window in the track when it goes up and down to find the problem. I know you probably don't want to hear this advice, but it's what needs to be done.

Chances are you have a bolt loose on the track, or off totally. Feel around in the bottom of the door if you don't see anything obvious.

Yeah, you're right, I have just been putting it off. I'm hoping someone has come across it before.

I ran across similar in my wife's Highlander. https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-1091#post-2416517

But that still doesn't satisfy what you're asking. We've definitely had a few people with alignment/roll-up issues because a bolt fell out in their 1st gen Tundra similarly. I blue Loctite'd my wife's back in. Neighbor bought the car, has had it for damn near 2-3 years now, no issues.

Try rolling down halfway, then grab the glass with 2 hands and lift gently, see if you get the noise. Try lift in the front if the glass and the rear. Then try putting and lightly pressing down.

Good ideas. I'm going to take it apart this weekend if this PNW rain ever stops.

I just finished putting everything back together...twice. The first time around after completing I look down to see one of those plastic anchors lying in the driveway. SOB! Anyhow, I think I found the problem, the bottom rear of the window has a small bolt that attached it to the lifting mechanism. I found that bolt added some locktite and screwed it back together.
    Thanks for the replies.
