    Hello everyone,

I am installing the talons 2-piece set to protect my cats tomorrow. Typically I use a YouTube video but I can’t find one for this particular project.

if anyone has any tips, tricks, or pics they can offer, I sure would appreciate it!

No TRD skid plate just the normal one.

Speakers, amp, subs, floorboard lights...and the little step thing under the bumper
I don't remember exactly, been too long since I did it, but seems the instructions weren't clear to me on the crossmember that goes across the top for the transmission plate...think I had to remove it, back in, for it to be right. So, if anything's unclear in that area, yell, I (or someone) can try to take pictures. Also, I think someone used a floor jack to lift theirs in place, which is good, they weigh a TON...still, great product, SOLID!

I read through the instructions about removing the transfer case skid plate but not about the crossmember. I’m hoping since I can’t find a video it will be intuitive at the least.

There isn't that much to it.
It would help to have a friend to hold stuff up.
But if not, an empty 5 gallon bucket or 2 will help you hold stuff in place..

I installed mine by myself and I have the TRD skid plate.
I only dropped it on my head once..

Lay out cardboard under the truck to prevent scratching the plate.
    Yes, I would do this..

If you didn't buy a nut plate, it sure does come in handy.
It is needed more for the TRD skid plate, it would make any installation easier, but not required.

I didn’t buy the nut plate because I wasn’t aware of it unfortunately.

If you don't have a long skid plate, you won't need it..
But you will feel better about parking your truck anywhere..

Whatever this forum told me to do
    I’ve taken mine off/on 4times

    it’s simple, not easy

the bike tube rubber idea is good, I’m gonna use that next time

do a drain and fill on the trans first. You’ll thank me later

Well I got it installed. The Z brackets were the hardest to understand and install and I had to be very careful of the brake lines. I will say it’s 2023 and @Talon2006 should consider putting up a video of installation and possibly include paper instructions with the kit. I had a lot of trouble with the install like getting wrenches above the cross member.

I’m mechanically challenged though so maybe others don’t need this but it sure would help. I did chop a bicycle inner tube for the project as suggested by @batman900 (thank you!) but I didn’t change the transmission fluid because I didn’t have time for that procedure although I appreciate the advice @nobodyintexas !

    Sorry you had issues!!

We included paper install guides at the very beginning with the package and they always ended up getting lost, so we went to only having them online.

All of our guides are here.

We have made a few install videos…. My wife and I are both super shy and getting in front of the camera has not been easy for us!

I totally understand that and that makes sense as to why you don’t have videos posted. Maybe just add more pictures for your online guide? I used that for the install. But I do also want to say it seems like a high quality product! Now I can have peace of mind when I go out thanks to you and also thank you for fast shipping!

I looked back at our install guide and agree… it needs updated. I might have an updated version on my computer that I forgot about! I will have to look and see.
