2nd Master Key FOB

After signing papers and getting ready to drive home my new '24 Tundra Platinum, the sales agent said, "You're not going to be happy with me, but there is only one Master key fob available for you. The 2nd one is on backorder. None of the agents who have purchased a '24 Tundra - including the owner - have yet to receive a 2nd key. Don't know how long this will take." Very disappointed at this last minute "revelation." After 9 weeks, still no 2nd key! At one point, I was told I could purchase one after-market! When I asked why Toyota didn't program a 2nd key fob at the say time they programmed the 1st, got a shoulder-shrug response?

This is my only negative experience with my Tundra and the dealer! Any similar experiences? How long wait time?

All the Toyota models shipped with a single key had a small white sticker on the lower right right corner of the drivers window that stated the vehicle was shipped with only one key and the second would be provided when available. (Chip shortage) Many dealers peeled this sticker off. My truck still had it as well all others I saw at my dealer. I was already aware of the shortage before delivery thanks to this Forum. Toyota claims vehicles sold in 24 will be back to normal with 2 Fobs. Hopefully, We’ll see.

 

Yes here we go again!

 

After a 6-8 month search for a specifically equipped 23 Limited off road. Drove 530 miles to pick it up and take delivery. Same scenario, getting ready to drive back home. "Oh, sorry... you only get one smart key for now. They are backordered due to chip shortages. We will send one out in a month or two," That was early May. I just received my second key fob this week. Got a notification on my Toyota app right around Thanksgiving that it was finally available (for my build date). Had a couple campaigns completed at the same time the local dealer programmed my 2nd key.

 

Oh, by the way. The cute little sticker everyone is talking about stating 2nd key being delayed was already removed during, by I suppose the delivery clean up guys before we got there. I initially was thinking they were feeding me a line of bullshit until doing a little subsequent research...
