Build thread time. Long time Toyota 4WD "enthusiast" that finally realized the Tundra is where it's at. We enjoy hiking, mountain biking, camping, and have had a few different adventure rigs but we got us a covid boat so towing has become important to us too. Enter Hong Kong Phooey. Like all of rigs, it is a work in progress but the main objective right now is to put miles on it.

Truck was purchased on June 21, 2023 and all of the mods were in place for it's maiden camping trip end of August with the exception of the grill. We have 2019 Roofnest Sparrow RTT that's been on a few trucks then went on HKP as soon as I installed the bed rack.

It had 133,000 on it when purchased but it's almost at 149,000 as of 11/22/2023. I really wanted an Inferno Tundra but that wasn't a requirement. Dual zone climate control so my wife could control her own temp and a sunroof were requirements. Transmission cooler and the 38 gallon gas tank were reasons for going with this truck too.

    Initial Modifications:

Retrax XR tonneau with t slot bedrails
    Billie Bars 17" bed rack
    Black overlays from Sparks Toyota
Grill plasti-dipped until TRD Pro grill arrived
    Icon 58650 coilovers
Icon 57720CP adjustable rear piggyback shocks
    Toy Tec shackles
    Method 705s 17x8.5 35mm offset
37x12.5r17 KO2s D load - I am a KO2 fan but these running small was another plus for me
    C4 Fabrication Hybrid front bumper
    Rago dash mount
MDO wood bed floor with custom fridge slide
    Weize 100Ah LiFePo4 house battery
Renogy 30A DC-DC charger with bluetooth
    Interior LEDs

Currently - with the exception of the RTT

Purchase day and after getting it home. Wife's truck for inspiration.

Being a Wisconsin truck, it hasn't been the most fun to work on and modify but I'm hoping to rectify all that as time goes on.

    Maintenance so far:
Several oil changes with Castrol Edge or whatever they call it now 0W-20
3 ATF drain and refills with Toyota WS. Next drain I'll pull the pan and replace the screen.
Ravenol 75W in the transfer case
Redline 75W-85 in the rear diff
    Air filter and cabin filter
    Denso SK20HR11 spark plugs
Driver's side rear leaf spring bushing because of destroying one when replacing the shackle

Pain. And suspension. Not a AZ/CA truck obviously. Not sure what I was on when I bought it...

Alignment specs in case anyone is interested. I asked for near zero toe in which is why it's slightly out of spec. The first time I took it in they told me they couldn't adjust it due to the LCA cam bolts being frozen. I don't think they tried hard but I got them all loose and replaced one just because I had some new ones.

Gas mileage so far has been all over. Sucky to not as sucky. But every truck I've had has gotten sucky gas mileage. What has been nice is being able to cover almost 500 miles on a tank of gas. My bladder can't always keep up but I like the option of not stopping when it does.

    Wish list:
    Sliders
    More lights
    Winch
    Rear bumper
    Headunit with android auto
    TRD Pro headlights
    Underseat storage for the rear
    Maybe ditch the sway bar.

This truck is my dream color combo! So cool. Usually you see the inferno red in the sr5 trim, not the higher trim package. Very nice truck!

Thanks! Dual zone temperature isn't an absolute must but I've learned my marriage is easier when you have it. And I'm a sunroof fan so focused my search on a Limited. I was open to other colors but Inferno was at the top of the list.

    Thank you!

I totally agree the upper trim levels are much harder to find in this color. I just saw one today but it was an sr5. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen a limited in person
