We have a place called True Value, it's like a handyman candy store full of wisdom, tool rentals, stihl dealer, dewalt/milwaukee dealer, and most of what a common homeowner might need. Prices might be a little higher, but I enjoy keeping those types of places in business.

As a hiring manager, you've got yourself a pay problem, not a personnel problem. For example, $20 in 2016, is $27 in 2023, but nobody that complains like this wants to pay enough to close that gap. You want people off benefits? All it usual takes is the board-level execs to cut their excess take by 1% and boost base employee pay (hyperbole, but to the point), and you'll provide a better lifestyle option than government services.

No issues staffing here. The secret sauce is always living wages.

And leadership. Nobody wants to work under a Nazi ran type of manager. Hell, I was one many many many years ago. Then I found a mentor, took leadership classes, read leadership books and practiced all of them. Now I don’t have those issues.

I think OP's problem was that he was trying to buy christmas lights in October.

Even if home depot left them out all year, that kind of a product is something that's made in batches anyway. They only make so many and that's it and they're gone. They design a new one next year so you buy the latest and greatest. Isn't our consumerist hellscape wonderful?

Agreed…but some of the prices are more than a bit higher.

    Price of a 2x4 at Lowe’s: $3.28.
Same thing @ local Ace: $11.99.

    THAT is bullshit.

boom! I do the exact same thing. Steve Jobs did it too, because he felt his time was better spent on business rather than deciding what to wear.

figured if I dressed like, him I’d become a billionaire too. So far, not working out, lol
