Have you done this? Dipstick is not mild steel.

stick has indents for max and min. Seems the challenge is reading fresh oil as it's clear like water. After 1k miles, it gets color and easier to read.

I just did my oil change a few weeks ago. I put in about 7.7 and pour the old oil back into container and measure about same amount. Truck got 35k on it. No oil burning

In another thread someone suggested scuffing up one side of the dipstick with steel wool to make it easier to read.

No.....but then again I am not the one bitching about the OEM dipstick......I think it's fine as is, and if I thought holes in it would help, I would drill them in rather than bitch about how tough the metal is without even trying .

Pretty hard to read. I just add 8 quarts and make sure it’s readable on the dipstick. Haven’t noticed any oil consumption with this engine yet.

I noticed on the Toyota app it shows "oil quantity ".
So I'm assuming the engine has an oil level sensor?
My last oil change I just did the 7 1/2 qts and moved on.
