Cruzer's Re-Build for the Rubicon

I don't want to waste a whole day. New owner will get beat up sliders and a nice alternator

 

Because the fashion police doesn’t like me working on my truck I’ve had to buy truck covers. When I put the cover back on yesterday I realized that it was perfect for masking off the body when I spray paint the sliders, so I went to town, although it looks like I missed a spot. Should also work well when it’s time to rattle can the front and rear bumpers.

 

Is it me or does this TRD Pro grill with chrome look good with the bumpers?

nice Cruzer. looks odd with that rear bumper... must be where the bedside was cut for the high clearance bumper.

 

I’m picking up a replacement white bed from a forum member pretty soon so this bed, dents and all, will actually end up on the DC.

Drove the truck to a nearby shop to get an alignment and bleed the brakes.



I was still able to yank out all of this wiring from the dash and under the carpet. The next truck will have much less.

Well glad i'm not alone thinking about removing my 6" lift before i trade-in my truck. Except i was thinking of going from a regular cab to a crew max...

 

So I’ve got the new bed on. The truck has 4 different shades of white I think my next move is to find a body shop to fix the dents and give it a paint job.

 

Mine too. Shell is fresh, body is old and at least one fender is half life with a crappy paint job to boot.

 

I’m thinking of rattle canning my other truck to go matte white cuz at this point it has 2 shades of white.

Just got back from Maaco to get an estimate. The cheapest route is $6500 to fix all the dents and repaint Guess I'll be doing the bodywork myself then.

 

Jesus, is that the going rate for body work in the Bay or is that due to the volume of fixes needed?

Shit I guess that plus materials will get you there. Oh well, at least when it's done you'll know how to fix the dents that will inevitably happen on the new truck!

 

Thats pretty cheap for body work and paint.

I'm with you though, I'd be doing it myself.

 

Last night I loaded my brain Matrix style with how to fix dent videos. Then I spent the day popping out the driver side dents as best I could and, as for my first test, laid a glob of body filler on a large section I popped out. Block sanded it down and it’s actually looking pretty decent. Tomorrow I’ll need to add another layer of filler to get the body lines right, then block to 180 and 320 before shooting primer.

 

We'd be more impressed if we could *see* it.

Its not particularly hard but it takes a lot of time, at least for me it does.
