For those of you that use a Bakflip mx4 cover AND use a hose barb to connect the drain hose to, which size barb should I get so that the hose stays connected securely?

I just connected the supplied hoses to the barbs on the cover. They are a snug fit and seem secure.

    Hey Matt,

I want to put a barb in the drain hole in the bed instead of drilling out the hole.

Ah, I see. I didn't have to drill any holes. My bed already had the drain holes and the hoses fit perfectly with no drilling. The hoses were also long enough to extend a few inches into the drain holes, so they should stay in place, unless I accidentally yank on them when pulling stuff out of the bed.

Yea mine has the holes as well but because of my spray liner, I have to drill them out a bit. And I really don’t want to drill so figured this is the best way to go without drilling

I'm not sure how you expect to use a hose barb without drilling the holes to the proper size, but maybe I'm missing something.

So the hose would connect to the bigger side of the barb and the smaller end would go through the pre drilled holes if that makes sense

Is there not rubber grommets filling the holes now?

No! But I was going to use this. Connect the hose to the threads and push the other piece through the drain holes in the bed

I’m not very mechanically inclined but now think the part with the threads would need to go into the truck bed

The inside diameter of the hose is like 1/8". I'm not sure you'll find a hose barb with the threaded end that small. And, if you did, the barbed end would be tiny and wouldn't drain well.

I think you're making this more difficult than it needs to be. Just stick a 1/4" bit in your drill and ream the the holes out. It's literally a 30 second job.

    Hey Lunar
I installed the MX4 on my truck & the hoses fit perfectly in the holes of my bed - tight but perfectly
If the spray in bed liner is in the hole - clean in out with a round metal object - like a metal file or a drill bit
Just make the hole as round as possible - hose with MX4 fits tight

Sorry for no 'periods' at the end of my sentences but my keyboard is messed up & 'periods' are 'f' & 'commas' are 'c' for some reason - damn kids!

    Hey ES Tundra 23,

Haha! I’ve got a few kids of my own so I totally get it.
Thank you so much for the info. The pictures make the hoses look much bigger. Are they the size of a pencil?
