I have now had my 2023 1794 with Off Road option almost a year and have 17,000 miles on it. I upgraded from a 2007 5.7 Limited Off Road(Gen 2). Likes and dislikes for anyone considering a similar upgrade:

    Likes:

    1. Better mileage (18 city, 20 highway)
    2. Bigger fuel tank
    3. Smoother, quieter, quicker acceleration compared to 5.7
    4. Much more comfortable seats
    5. LOVE the big screen
    6. Heated steering wheel
    7. Heated and cooled seats
    8. Rear locker in deep wind blown snow
    9. Smoother quieter ride

    Dislikes:

    1. Paint scratches in the clear coat very easily (high weeds).
    2. Have to switch to sport mode every time you start the truck
    3. During the day with headlights off the labels on the toggle switches are hard to see
    4. XM radio screen is reduced to the bottom right after any call/text and you have to touch the screen to get back to where you can see what's playing on all stations. I wish that was the default screen.
    5. Very loud seat belt alarm, I bought tik-it defeats for when we are in the field
    6. My drivers door only has locked for no apparent reason now 4 times. Once with fob out of the truck and 3 times with the fob in the truck. Remaining 3 doors open, WTF?
    7. 5.5' bed but the 6.5' wouldn't fit in my garage
    8. Front grill has lots of nooks and crannies for bugs, hard to clean!
    9. No easy way to turn off the sonar for an extended period of time?

Overall I love the truck and it is a HUGE upgrade from the Gen 2 in terms of ride, screen/electronics and performance.

    Hey, I'm a belieber.

I just can't afford to keep bearings in a gen 3. Or pay the liability damages when I pull out into traffic and the infotainment display shows a middle finger and cuts the power.

All I need is more $$ and I'll get one. Watch how fast I run to the dealer.

good write up, I agree, I don't really miss my 2016 truck at all so far.

the new ones are improved in almost every way, with the exception of exhaust sound out of the 3.4 vs the 5.7 obviously

Good writeup. If someone hits my 2020 1794 and totals it, or if my wife makes good on her threat to take my truck when her Highlander dies, I'll probably get a 3rd Gen. Otherwise, I am quite happy for this truck to outlast me.

Cpl Punishment: I am not talking about cruise. I'm talking about the radar sensors in both bumpers that beep like crazy when driving through weeds at bumper height. You can hit the OK toggle on the steering wheel to temporarily quiet it down but once you stop or back up it goes on again and starts beeping like crazy, it has automatically applied the brakes on numerous occasions thinking the tall weeds are an obstruction, annoying.

hit the little button that looks like a car hitting a cone on it, that will stop that braking BS, I did that so I can park in garage and tow my boat since I use a 4 prong trailer hook up and it wont auto detect. I just leave mine off, it remembers so you only have to hit it once

as for the beeping , other than the temp mute hitting ok, I think the dealer can adjust the sestivity or turn that off with tech stream

also, hit the quote button when your writing back to someone like @Cpl_Punishment otherwise he won't know your talking to him

    My mistake.

Yeah, thank goodness my truck doesn't have that.

Excellent writeup/analysis. I agree with all your "likes" and agree with most of your "dislikes". The ones I can't agree on yet are those that I have not experienced (XM Radio-don't use, Sonar in tall weeds).

#2 and #4 AMEN!! It’s the little things that drive me batty the most. There isn’t a day in history where I haven’t got mad at the tiny things. Like when you turn on climate control and the ONLY thing not lit up is what mode you’re in! Common! But I love the drive.

I just went for a ride and looked and you can also turn off the parking sensors easily and also adjust the volume right in the dash set up menu
