So the truck went in to the shop on October 5th they diagnosed The metal on metal noise was a main crank bearing. They thought they'd have it fixed quickly but then realized Toyota sent them a long block but still need a bunch more parts that oil runs through. Those parts don't come in for about another week.
The truck looks beautiful and had a bunch of great features, but has qualified as a lemon.
My biggest complaint is how Toyota manufacturer won't help me by selling me a new truck and giving me fair market value for this one. Instead they are going to waste about 30 plus thousand trying to fix. It may or may not fix the original problem I brought it to dealership for. Yes could be why someone traded it in with 5,000 miles on it. Hopefully lawyers can get me a fat check for diminished value. Especially considering all the hassle I'm going through with rental trucks not being able to pull my trailers etc. I have had to load and unload tools too many times to count.

If I were in the market for a new 1/2 ton now I would throw out reliability and resale. My criteria would be 1) capability 2) up front cost 3) ride, handling, performance 20) looks. JMO.

Not all low mileage used vehicles are trade ins. Many are repossessed and bought at auction by the dealers.

Before I bought my 2019 I looked at several very low mileage 2.5 gens. Ended up buying new because they wanted practically new money for used.

As someone else noted, people often realize after buying a 1/2 ton truck they aren't up to pulling a 8,000 lb camper even though the RV salesman told them it would have no problem.
