That's a bummer about the balancing issues with the Mickey's. I had no problems with mine and very little weight was added to get them balanced. They were mounted on TRD OR wheels.

And agreed on looks. IMO, they have dethroned the KO2 as "the standard" or the best looking AT tire in the market. And they look even better in person.

The Toyo AT3 is 3 peak mountain snowflake rated, is the MT? We love the AT3 on our 4runner and between it's 4wd system and the tires we don't mind the bit of snow we get here.

They are 3PMS stamped. May exclude some of the larger sizes?

285/75/17 Toyo ATIII's come in load range C and will be my next set. In my opinion they are the best compromise of size, looks, ride quality and performance

The answer is literally in the part you left out of your quote.

I've had Mickey T's for almost 50k and they have been great. MT is also very good to deal with as a company. I had one tire of the 4 with a balancing issue, (the shop could balance the tire but not perform a road force balance). I called them (MT) about it and they overnighted a new tire directly to the authorized shop I was dealing with. Painless customer service, and a fantastic performing tire.

Im north of you, but it sounds like our use cases are very similar.

I wore out a set of the Toyo AT2, and currently have around 30k on a set of the AT3s. In my opinion, the AT2 was a decent, long-lasting tire, but the AT3 is a big step up in snow, ice and mud performance. I’ve been very happy with its off-road performance and will be replacing with the same.

Assuming your control environment is the same when compared to when you ran the AT2s (same area, etc.) Objectively, what is better about the AT3s: Traction in snow/ice, less slipping with acceleration, better braking?

My 2010 needs new tires as well. My son is getting the 2010 in 4-5 months. I will put AT3s on that one. Previously I ran AT2s on the 2010 but I switched them out for Razor MTs when we nearly slid off a mountain road, the road was flat, gentle turn to our left, speed was good and boy she just went straight to the edge. I never made it home. I went straight to the tire shop on the way home. MTs for off road use are superior as expected. On road manners, well it's a MT tire so nothing to write home about. I had them siped so they have been good on snow/ice. I will say the AT2s were getting low on tread and I planned on replacing them within a year.

I have heard a few concerns about balancing with MT. Same with Wildpeak AT3W. Outstanding customer service can make a bad situation seamless. Glad it worked out for you

Yeah, pretty similar. I spend a lot of time camping & hunting the same Alberta mountain areas year after year. My experience with the AT2 was similar to yours, their off-road and snow/ice performance really degraded as they wore. The AT3s have better off-road traction in every condition, and tho no MT, clear the treads much better. The 3s just perform better in all conditions IME. Less spinning, sliding, etc.

I have been running a studded set of Duratracs for winters. But these Toyo are good enough in snow & ice, once the current set of ‘winters’ is worn out I won’t be replacing them.

The only downside I’ve noticed, is they’re a little louder on highway. So if a guy is very sensitive to road noise, the AT3 may not be the best AT. I’ll happily take the trade off.

With my 2024 Limited I am fine with some road noise. I notice some wind noise anyway and the V6 is way quieter than the V8.
The truck rides oddly plush if that makes sense. Doesn't feel like a truck IMO. I am adding adding the 3/1 Westcott which will rough up the ride some and new tires which will certainly be louder than stock. It should feel like a truck again! LOL

I felt same about lip on RRW and got Method 314 in 18s instead. Saw the RRW in person later and really like them. Kinda wish i had gotten the 17" RRWs.
Same happened with tires. Got Yokohama M/T due to lower price and weight but when i saw the Mickeys in person i wished i had gotten them instead. Mainly for the looks though since the Yoko have gotten through everywhere i tried to drive so far.

My shop really likes Method 305 DB. Pictures, they look good. I saw them in person on a 4Runner and it was a hard no. Every time I see the RR6-H I really like them. Never in person yet. Multiple different trucks angles ect. they just look good. My truck is Celestial Silver and with Matte Black RR6-H should look really good with some MTs.

I ended up with MT Baja Boss AT 285/65R70 and left factory OEM wheels. I may switch out but never found a set of wheels that I loved besides RR6 or RR7 but I realized zero offset will be too much poke for my liking. The tires are smooth and very quiet for their tread pattern. No comments as to highway or OR. Haven't made it their yet.
