06 DC Immobilizer issue?

Hi guys, 2006 DC Tundra. The truck seems to be having an immobilizer issue where it will crank, start and run for around 1 second then shut off, it seems to have this issue intermittently with all 3 of my keys.

I have 2 codes currently.

B2799 - Engine Immobilizer System
P0051 - Oxygen Sensor (A/F) Heater Control Circuit Low (B2S1)

I think the oxygen sensor code is an unrelated issue, but i figured i would provide as much information as possible

Im wondering which direction i should go? i know there is a factory Immobilizer system hard reset, so im planning on starting there, and if that does not work then possibly replace the immobilizer unit?

If anyone has had this issue before, knows of any confirmed fixed, or has any advice at all please let me know.

There was a thread here just the other day about a guy in DC had his truck stolen. They said the 06 does not have the immobilizer system installed. I know my 06 does not have a transponder key from the factory. There are countless posts in the 1gen section chasing electrical gremlins due to failing batteries, low voltage conditions, and corroded ground straps. Good luck.

 

We've had several members who definitely have transponder chips in their DC, and others who definitely don't. And I don't think I've seen an 05+ Sequoia yet that didn't have one.

Hell, I just found out today, the first DC I've ever heard of with only 6 speakers and no OEM amplifier. Was trying to help the guy who bought my wheels with his system, and he was, like "Got no amp. Even Toyota dealer says I should have an amp." But he definitely doesn't have one. 2005 DC.

Yep! My truck definitely has this immobilizer module behind the dash, exactly the same as pictured. Unfortunately I don’t think this will be a very straightforward diagnosis, I’ll keep this forum updated with any information I find, any tips or information is still very welcomed and appreciated.

Wait my DC had 4 door speakers and 2 tweeters and no amplifier either. Lol. I put a mini amp behind my Kenwood double din headunit and replaced the busted door speakers with cheapo Kenwood 6.5s. Where would the amp be? Certainly isn't in the dash cuz I've removed that HVAC panel about 499 times. Is it behind the back wall plastic cuz that I haven't touched although I would like to know how much space is back there? Probably not even enough for a slim underseat subwoofer right?

So, we changed out the coil and amplifier components of the immobilizer system, and this seemed to fix the issues. I have been driving around for a little over a week and have had no further issues. Hopefully this was a permeant fix!
