What happened to the thread from Timmy the Toolman doing a starter replacement? It seems to have disappeared.

Bummer. I found a video with a different guy that removed the starter bolts without removing the coolant crossover. I posted in the thread if Timmy could confirm that was possible. Guess we'll never know.

I have not watched Timmy or Timmah or whoever’s video, but he himself commented that the starter swap he showed was not on a Tundra. So not apples to apples, but same 2UZ platform. May not be the best reference overall for Tundras.

Thanks for noticing that. Timmy's vid is on a 2008 Lexus, but he does comment a about working on other models that also have the smog air pumps as they seem to limit ability to access the bolts. 2000-2004 Tundras (according to other vids) seem to be much easier to access starter bolts vs 05-06.

Here's the video I posted in the other thread. At 6:00 to 8:00 this guy was able to fit his arm and a ratchet behind the motor to remove the starter bolts blind without removing the coolant crossover. I'm gonna do mine in the next couple weeks and report back as I'm planning to use the truck for 6-8 ski weekends from Maryland to Vermont this winter.
