Curious how high (rpm wise) you rev it out when accelerating normally and how often you floor it.

I love to wind it out but I never do because I baby the truck...maybe a little too much. The last time I floored it was months ago.

Normal driving around 2000-3000 depending on what I’m doing. Full throttle is on an as needed basis or if I just feel like spending money on gas and having fun.

Put it this way ... I try to average 16mpg. ;) But I will stomp it to the floor in heartbeat when needed. Merging onto the highway, etc. I don't really know (or care) what RPM levels I hit when doing that. My eyes are on the traffic around me, not the dash.

I do have a slight interest in opening her all the way up someday (on a long, straight, empty stretch of highway). I'd be interested in knowing what her top speed is.

probably 2k normally, 3-4k to merge after the lovely denver metro on-ramp stop lights

I drive according to the situation.
Sometimes I'll get it up to 4k, maybe a little more when I need to merge or scoot past some stupid. I don't stare at the tach often, maybe a quick peak now and then. So it might get higher. But I don't accelerate hard every time I accelerate. Only when necessary.
I don't drive like a Gramma all the time and I don't drive like an asshole all the time.

I paid for 6,000RPMs, I’m gonna use 6,000 RPMs on occasion! I think it’s good to open it up here and there if you’re maintaining it properly.

No to any my vehicles. Just not my thing.

motorcycles are a different story, but about a 50/50 split. Also that’s more from an acceleration standpoint point not from carless weaving through traffic and riding

You have to do your part to exercise those VVT mechanicals through their full range of motion and keep everything lubricated. :D

Occasionally, I let it ring out when towing though. 5k+ is not uncommon then, especially in S4 with tow haul on.

    Too many, but not enough....
I drive pretty tame for the most part. The only times I gun it are when I brain fart and almost miss an exit, or when I'm on a freeway on ramp. I'll give it the old Italian tune up once in a while.

An Eye Talian tune up is necessary to keep warranties in force and man cards in the wallet.

Now Ryan will give ya a quick technical primer.

This is true. I generally drive mine easy with fuel economy a priority. I rev it out after an oil change to cycle the VVT solenoids and get new oil into them.

Towing is a different priority and RPMs are an engine's friend under load to a limit.

Almost immediately after my post, I said duuuh, and did a search. Everyone agrees with you within a MPH or two.

110 is more than fast enough for a utility vehicle. I've had mine up to 100 a couple times. I didn't win a prize, and I didn't get any richer. :)

It's governed by the computer. I'm sure it would go faster if you could bypass that?

I absolutely baby mine unless I am in traffic, then I try to go with the flow so I don't piss anyone off, or cause a disruption. I have seen a bunch of 200K+ mile Tundras that have been run ragged though, so I don't think it matters.. to an extent. They can definitely take some abuse from what I've observed.

Seems so. Some of the drag race videos show the Tundra hitting speeds above 110MPH.

I'm pathetic. I baby the thing and only on the very rare occasion do I open it up at all. Just knowing it's there is enough for me. I'm old also.

4-4.5k is about where I max out, mostly while towing. 5.29s, 33's and S4 on grades and 70mph has her humming at 3.7-4k on average. I know it'll occasionally spike during an aggressive on ramp/merge, but I don't do it on purpose and it's a 5.29 "feature" that equates to all bark, no bite.

My wife was the only one to get a discount. My son and I did not qualify.

I actually tried to drive less like me when it was plugged in. Didn’t help.

I'm more in the "baby it" camp. I drove sports cars & sport bikes all through my 20s & early 30s. That need for speed has diminished rapidly for me in my daily driver

Now if I'm out on a buddies bike (sold my toys), all bets are off

When I graduated from High School I bought a brand new Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus. All my friends told me to drive it like I stole it, and that it'll never run fast if I don't. I babied it for the first 500 miles, and drove it sanely after that. A little fun once in a while, but I never redlined it or drove it too wildly. I sold it at nearly 100,000 miles and it didn't smoke, burn, or leak oil, and the motor ran smoothly with no more noise that when new. My friend's cars, however, burned oil, leaked, and were pretty well shot long before they reached the same mileage. I try to treat all of my cars well, and most seem to return the favor.
