Haven't played with the line pressures on my truck, but I've been testing tweaks for the torque converter tables on my 2020 and so far it's going very well. Makes an excellent difference in how it removes the remaining "slack" in the transmission that you get leftover following shift logic tweaking.

It's something we'd like to do, just haven't found someone to do it in a location that would be ideal. Might have to do it locally in El Paso, but that's just not as ideal since we're at 4k ft and I'd prefer sea level, along with a bit warmer temps.

We've been keeping this under wraps for some time now, but today we are excited to announce that YotaWerx Tuning has completed a merger and acquisition of Nexus Tuning Group, with Nexus Tuning developers and networked partners coming onboard with YotaWerx Tuning!

This enables YotaWerx to continue to bring the community high quality tuning solutions while working on several projects at once rather than keeping them on the shelf for extended periods of time, and with several more locations available in-network, the availability of local support is that much more complete and easily accessible.

Today (23 Mar 2023) is the official date of the merger. Please be patient with us while we work hard to finish transitioning Nexus Tuning Group content and processes into YotaWerx Tuning. Services available will not be interrupted nor unavailable.

We appreciate the community's enthusiastic support. More big things to come this year, stay TUNED!

Left DAP in the dust and turned to YotaWerx.

Local tuner (MCB Autotech) set me up with a custom tune and Jose drove about an hour and half to get it done. As with all things I delve into, things ain't ever straightforward. Tune wasn't downloading because 1) ECU wasn't the original so it didn't match my VIN, and 2) it needed an update. In 100° heat with no shade, Jose worked through all this to get the tune downloaded.

Afterwards, he hit me up to ask how things were going (within 24 hrs) and I mentioned a little issue with shifting on the lower end. Within 2 days they tweaked the tune and Jose was asking me when we could meet up to get it downloaded.

If DAP had service like this, I'd have never switched.

MCB & YotaWerx has got my vote

Honestly, not much more different but I haven't been driving my truck much lately. As a teacher, I don't work much during the summer so the truck is parked a lot. Sometimes I take her out for a stretch so I'll do that and get back to you. The drive back home from this last tune was excellent. She's got pep and I swear I'm burning less petrol...

    Good evening everyone!

About 2 weeks ago on October 24th, we put two of the YotaWerx Tuning house trucks on the dyno for some final adjustments to the Tundra 5.7L “Stryker” tune: our 2018 Tundra 5.7L with the Magnuson TVS1900, and our 2020 Tundra 5.7L with the brand-new Magnuson TVS2650.

These kits performed and responded to tuning wonderfully, and we have our results below. These numbers were measured at the hub, and all posted dynographs include relevant details regarding ambient conditions and other variables.

At this time, the expected range for power numbers for the Magnuson TVS1900 with no additional supporting modifications has been fairly well-documented over the years, for both Magnuson and aftermarket calibrations, and our results reflect that consistency. One of the things that we are most happy with is our high torque benefit, particularly lower in the powerband. This is something that we aim for on all our FI calibrations because while high peak horsepower numbers are exciting, if the majority of your power is focused higher in your powerband where you aren’t accessing it as frequently, then the improvement of your drivability benefits is significantly impacted. We always strive to ensure we provide strong torque benefit lower in the powerband, where a truck or SUV needs it most.

    PUBLISHED_MAG1900 - Stryker91_logo+infobox.jpg

Tuning with the new TVS2650 was very exciting, and performed very well as we expected it would. Please see below for dynographs for the Magnuson TVS2650 calibration, the YotaWerx “Stryker” calibration on 91-octane, and the “Stryker” calibration for 91-octane with an E30 mix of ethanol. The YotaWerx theme of ensuring a strong torque benefit lower in the powerband is continued here as well.

    ----------

These Tundra "Stryker" tunes are now available across the YotaWerx Tuning Network, with a 10% discount available through November 22nd:

    - 3UR-FE (non-FFV) Tundras, calibrations for Premium fuel and Premium fuel + E30
    - 3UR-FBE (FFV) Tundras, calibrations for Premium fuel
o FFV E30 calibrations will follow soon, as we were unable to finalize these for FFV due to time constraints.

These tunes were developed using VFTUNER tuning software.

+1 for MCB Autotech & Yotawerx. Got setup by Maynard when he came down to Beaumont this past Saturday. Cool dude, very knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and was quick to reply whenever I messaged him. No issues with installing the tune and he updated the ECU to fix some TSBs that toyota had put out. So far from what I've driven around truck feels good, shifting is smooth.

I had the D3 tune and went back to the stock tune since I was having issues with their tunes. Support wasn't really much help. Guy over the phone was cool but email support needs work. Even now when I emailed them about moving the device to another truck they told me only they could unlock it. I asked them if I needed to take it to them since they're not too far from me or if whoever gets it just needs to contact them, its been 4 months, never got a reply...

Do these tunes allow the 5.7 tundra to get 3rd gear lock up ? Trying to help with towing and lower the converter temp

Yes. We don't lock the TC 100% of the time in 3rd, but we do have our own torque converter control which has been tested during towing and no temps higher than those routinely seen stock were observed.

May have missed it, but is there anything on the horizon in terms of VF Tuner support for the 2022+ Tundra?

Not yet, and likely not for some time unless there's a miracle honestly.

VF has communicated previously to us that the ECUs in the new tundras, sequoias, 2024 Tacoma, and presumably the gx550 have an 8-layer encryption on them. The good thing is once they're eventually cracked, it'll probably start a cascade for the others.

It's a little hard to just flatly say "you will see improved temperatures" because just like with fuel economy questions, there are so many variables in play for towing scenarios.

The primary purpose of the tow testing we conducted with our torque converter control was not exclusively to document a significant reduction in temp (which would realistically probably look like a delta of roughly 10F+, which is achievable (see below)), but to document/demonstrate that our torque converter control provided a benefit to transmission control both while towing and not towing without increasing temperatures observed while under very heavy loads.

Now that I have a more concrete idea of what specific information you were looking for, here's some info below from our tow tester in Arizona (he's from Phoenix area). He tows a 5700# trailer with his 2020MY:

"Just towed my camper over 200 miles and trans temps were 225 to 230"

He routinely tows in S4, so he'd be seeing a mix of 3rd and 4th gear.

    Just saw this edit/add-in

No. Our tune used to have dedicated 91+ tune files but for the latest release we went with fully octane learning calibrations

Got my Tundra tuned by Maynard and WOW the difference it made over the previous DAP tune is a world of a difference. I have a 2017 4.6 tundra and the only option I had at the time was DAP and I had issues almost instantly that I knew it wasn't the truck causing an issue since I did data monitors with techstream. Now that Maynard tuned it, the truck doesn't hesitate when hitting 4000 rpm or have a light misfire at idle that I've been dealing with for years and my gas mileage is back up where it should be. The truck shifts smoother and power is linear like it should be. I just got my FJ tuned as well and that thing drank gas but after the tune it doesn't waste as much fuel anymore. (3in lift on 33s).

I highly recommend getting tuned by MCB Autotech and Yotawerx. They know what they're doing and actually listen to when a problem occurs. A+ customer service.

yeah I emailed a local yotawerx guy - I did ema dap a few days ago no response - I also read some tuners are just copy/pasting tunes so makes me a little nervous lol

Yea, that's what most tuners do is just give you a generic tune they made and don't care if there's issues or not. Dap does some stuff that works in theory but the end result is bad. Yotawerx will make adjustments if an issue arises.

We do make tunes that are intended to be safely flashed to any vehicle for each application, but the path we take to get there is appropriately longer because of all the testing we do to ensure safety, dependability, performance and drivability, and ultimately we beat the hell out of our trucks so that you don't have to worry about it. We own these vehicles too, so we daily drive on the same tunes that we sell. This model works well for the vast majority of customers.

That said, it's impossible to account for every scenario or eventuality, and so as @Lilgoob5043 mentioned, we'll make adjustments as needed. You don't get ignored without support if there's something needing to be addressed.
