Silly question cause I’m a nerd. Anyone know how to change the national park startup on the digital gauge cluster? I haven’t figured it out

Mine doesn't do this automatically. Mine will show the same image on startup if its overnight or several hours between starting the engine. I can cycle through the 5 or 6 images if I keep hitting the start button by entering accessory/aux mode.

I wonder if Carista has a setting to change the cycle?

I didn't realize there was more than 1 image. I thought it was cool the first day and never paid that close attention again. I've noticed a few since I read this thread.

LOL, me too. I don't think I've seen a different image yet, however, I'll pay attention now.

There has to be a way to get the images to cycle. The fact that very few people have seen more than 1 image, I believe shows its not by design. If you start up, go to the gas station and fire it back up you will see 2 different images (1 from the first start then another after you fill up, perhaps 5 min). My theory is that you will see a new image if the start/stop cycle is less than 10 min. Haven't fully tested it yet.

I think there is a bug with some older version firmware on the digital dashes that causes it to show the same 2 parks over and over, but there is no official TSB or note about it. But you may want to ask the service dept about it next time you are in because you may have an older version that has other issues they put the newer firmware on for.

In case anyone is curious what they all look like, these are the 5 I've seen, which you can filter through by continually going through on/acc (without starting the truck). I don't recall ever noticing the forest or mountain lake views during normal starts (though I don't always pay attention).

Correct. You see all those when you cycle from off to acc but you dont see them when you go from off to start.

sad part is that the backgrounds at a glance look all the same. i dont even notice them anymore cause i am not looking at the screen during startup. usually i am putting my seat belt on, pushing the auto start off, or turning the knob to put it into sport S mode.

that is my procedure for everytime i get into the tundra after i start it.

I'm thinking about how scratched AF that screen will be once you wipe off all that dust......

Probably not at all using the right cloth. Keep in mind what you see in those pictures isn't really visible, so I have no reason to wipe it off. It might be 3 years before I ever wipe that screen off.

Funny. I've had my 1794 for 3 months and I've never even noticed the startup image.

Agreed. Invariable there will be scratches. Sure you can take extra care to minimize them but it will be impossible to clean the surface without some kind of residual damage, even slight. Over time this will accumulate. In my opinion the design of this gauge cluster is one of many stupid things they have done. In almost every other car I have had the gauge cluster lens is more forward at the top and further away at the bottom. This basically prevents dust from accumulating since dust doesn't defy gravity. At the worst I can recall a lens that might have been vertical. This one is just dumb. Basically a dust shelf by design. What on earth was the designer thinking?

Back to the matter at hand I will admit that I didn't notice that the back ground image was changing over time. What I do notice is that the digital cluster offers little more functionality or visual difference then the base analog gauges, aside from the startup image. With all that digital real estate there is almost no customizability. Sure you can pick between 2 different gauge sets for the RH side but that is about it. Other than that the color of the ring around the tach changes slightly depending on the drive mode selected. It could have been so cool but ended up so boring.

Don't get me started on the infotainment screens....what a waste of a 14" screen

I hope someone on the Tundra team reads this feedback and helps provide SW updates to address the infotainment and digital cluster feedback. Not sure of the process or how engineers get customer feedback other than surveys which I have yet to receive. I suppose dealers provide some feedback but that is largely based on resolving issues not user experience.

Edit - Did I get you started on the 14" screen @Tumbler? lol
