I'd love to know how that dealer finds all these low mileage mint or near mint vehicles. And what they paid for them. That's a beauty but 30k plus fees, I would have a hard time paying that even if from the original owner which I'd prefer.

I have to stop looking at these, 3 more long years and my '21 is paid off. Then I'll be ready to make another "financially sound" decision.

 

So I bought a cap off a guy who had this loaded up 2001 AC, V8/4WD, Limited w/TRD package, 196k miles, FL and GA driven only, rust-free frame listed up on FBM. Loaded: Leather, wood grain, upgraded head unit, backup camera, dash camera. I'd verify the timing belt before purchase, he said previous owner had it and a bunch of other stuff done before buying it 50k miles ago.

4WD is working. Runs smooth as can be. No codes. Already lifted, full Bilstein (6112 front? or 5100), 3"ish. Some mall-crawl-style wheels I don't like, but good rubber. Also a hot air intake I don't love, but a nice optimia yellow top. One tap on the rear lower passenger corner pictured below, no frame damage I could clearly see, a couple of small poppable (PDR) spots in the body but body is otherwise straight. Clearcoat is obviously failing, as is typical with this color, and the red or green painted 1st gens.

Main issue? Rear end is shot, not spinning, says it grenaded one day while with a loud clunking as he was driving and had to have it towed to the house. But it is movable under its own power using 4HI, as long as the front axles are spinning it rolls. Should be easy enough to load up on a trailer. I also noticed the MC reservoir lacks a cap, so you're looking at a brake fluid flush since brake fluid is hygroscopic. I did find it interesting the amount of apparent oil soak around the passenger rear axle and frame, almost like something threw a huge sploosh of petrol-based fluid everywhere? Possible alternate issue: Bill of Sale only, he can't find the title. In GA, you gotta jump through hoops to get a lost titles replaced, and the tag agency is pretty far from this dude. Vacuum lines are looking rough, need a refresh.

He was asking $5,500 a couple weeks back, dropped to $5k a few days later, then to $4,455. I handed him $400 cash for his cap yesterday, I know he'd prefer to still pull around $4,400, but maybe he'll give some wiggle room, I dunno. Anyway, I took some extra shots, here's some with the cap installed, and some frame shots, and engine bay and other stuff. If it was 2WD I'd take it (to build a street truck). Probably a good deal for any of you northern dudes who need a rust-free truck with basic work, just gotta find a rear gearbox that matches the front, or throw in a temporary AC/RC salvaged rear-end on-site with any gearing and run it in 2WD home.

If you're serious, and tell him 'the guy who bought your cap sent me' or ping me and I'll link you guys up. I'm a pretty solid judge of character, he seemed like a good younger dude in a pinch, I got zero gut sense he's not being forthright (and verified engine running, no cleared codes, no existing codes, and 4HI engages). Damn, that thing is loaded. And mint. Looks like it was garage kept and never driven. Granted, they did a great job of cleaning it up too.

 

Yeah,I noticed some dirt around the fender areas, but I think it got a pretty good detail before it was listed. Would like to see some undercarriage shots.. I also can't tell from the photos if the clear coat is good on the roof. The rest of the paint looks great though.
